Ryder Cup 2014 - Gleneagles, Scotland

Thank Christ we’ll all be spared the Luuuuuukkkkkeeeee chants from the crowd every time Donald hits the ball.

I find that very annoying and it’s nothing like the way we chant Boooooooooo when Mr Weekley fires one down the middle

Boo is an alright sort. Luke is a cunt

Indeed. And knowing he has absolutely no right to have been awarded the job ahead of these two Scottish golfing giants, McGinley tries to curry favour by selecting Gallacher. But he sacrifices the strength of his team by leaving out Donald - a peerless foursomes operator with a wonderful Ryder Cup record. A total shambles and overseen by a charlatan in McGinley.

I hope Paul enjoys his post-Ryder Cup holiday in Yugoslavia after he’s messed up our continent’s chances.

McGinley is Mr. Weakly (in how he captains).

I predict he’ll name David Moyes as a vice-captain.

Does anybody care who wins the Ryder Cup anymore?

Seems to be a competition that belongs to a by-gone era/corporate hospitality.

It’s been well established on here that the Ryder Cup is in fact the last true form of Golf, and that anything else utter cock.

It’s a low bar and a handy excuse as the comments on this thread display a knowledge beyond what is gleaned from watching a Ryder Cup every so often. The only golfers a non golf follower should know anything about are Jack Nicholas and Alan Hansen.

A Venn Diagram of Ryder Cup advocates and Leinster/Munster supporters might be revealing as to who is an insecure social climber who felt the need to fit in when he started to work being uncertain and insecure as to the acceptability of other sports in the corporate world.

What in the name of God are you waffling on about? This battle of the continents is the greatest event in the world.

I can honestly say I dont think there’s anything to match the sheer tension that exists during both The Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup. Its almost like war, in fact sometimes, like Kiawah, it is war.

Did Shane Lowry get on the team?

Did Philip Walton get a wildcard?

Shane will keep the bar propped up for the rest of the lads

I thought he might have a squeak but clearly Paul McGinley didn’t feel the 1995 Ryder Cup hero’s game wasn’t at a high enough pitch to be included.

Watching it in a post ironic fashion in a manner similar to finding the Sunday Indo on the parents’ table makes it no more acceptable

You’re going on as if people pretend to care about it. You must be a very cynical person. I can’t wait for Bubba Watson to walk across the line of some European cunt’s putt or Rickie Folwer refusing to concede an 18-inch putt. Battle lines are being drawn and we’re coming for victory.

Eh, how can you look at an image such as this and not feel your blood boil and feel the ancient passions stir?

Alas, no

Another career, along with the 500k emigrants abroad, ruined by Brian Cowan.

I worry about Team Europe in the etiquette department under McGinley’s stewardship. This is a fellow who went and jumped in a lake after holing a putt on the 18th at Wentworth in 2002. Team USA certainly won’t be found wanting in that department with Tom at the helm.
