Ryder Cup 2014 - Gleneagles, Scotland

The Ryder Cup Captain picks the colour of the uniforms, you CANNOT underestimate how important this is to the game of golf. I believe he also chooses the tyres on the golf buggys. He’s kind of a big deal.

This is a very tiresome thread now. Let it go fellas.

Powers go :

McGinley 2/5
Monty 7/4

McGinley gets it

Live interview on skysports news at the mo…

Keep us informed mate, this is the biggest thing in sport* in 2013 so far.

*using the term lightly

Beaming like a Cheshire Cat is the new captain. Absolutely delighted for him.

Shame to see Europe split down the middle like it has been over the past few weeks over this decision. I’m not sure it can be stitched back together again.

If Sidney and MBB let go of things when they became tiresome, they’d probably only have a few hundred posts between them now.

Thrilled not to get a mention here.

McGinley sounds like a simpleton going on about Gaelic football

McGinley’s an alright sort but I will never support a team that contains McIlcunt so I’ll be fully supportive of Watson’s Warriors in Gleneagles

Didn’t McIlroy slate the Ryder Cup only a few years ago, basically saying he couldn’t give a fuck about it? Tiger Woods has practically no interest in it and that’s good enough for me.

Best of luck to McGinley, he seems an alright sort. The Ryder Cup is not quite as bad as the British Lions tour in terms of creating a false sporting rivalry but it is completely overhyped at the same time though. “A continent expects.”

Me too mate.

He did in his hole?

As someone who is from Portmarnock who pretends to be from Malahide who follows Leitrim GAA I don’t think any of us would be surprised at that mate.

This is the best day of my life.

McGinley is a tax exile, like JP McManus.

Oh he did.

Don’t know if you [assembled golf journalists] have ever heard of Gaelic football. I played it [for some pub team] and its what makes me such a great team player [ I would say the fact that he is not a very good individual player has meant that he has to be a good team player].

I am seething that a legend of the Ryder Cup has been overlooked for the captaincy.
