the chants of “Europe, Europe, Europe” ring out, amazing
[QUOTE=“Colin Montgomerie, post: 1023149, member: 9”]Just awoken by my alarm. Think I’ll go back asleep for another while and join today’s coverage around 10am. Team USA should be well in control at that stage.

Some clarification as to the key role Padraig Harrington is fulfilling as joint captain.
Victor Dubuisson had a Ryder Cup debut to remember, but the occasion may have caught up with him on the 11th hole after forgetting a club in a toilet. -
The Frenchman won many admirers today as his partnership with Graeme McDowell which hit the ground running in the foursomes this afternoon.
The final match of the day saw the pair defeat the highly-regarded partnership of Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley 3 & 2 as Europe take a 5-3 lead into day two at Gleneagles.
While it was a sterling performance from Dubuisson, after a toilet break on the 11th hole the Frenchman realised that somehow left his putter behind him.
Three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington was sent back to retrieve the club and thankfully it didn’t affect his play for the remaining holes.
Rose birdie wins the 2nd. All square in Match 1

Just showed a lad in the crowd wearing a KK Jersey.
Kilkenny people are waiting for the second replay.
Maybe he needs some “me” time?
Interview with McGinley on first tee at start of play. Amongst other things he was asked about the disappointing showing of local lad Stephen Gallacher yesterday. Gave a rambling response which I believe translated into something like - Stephen was a late bolter and as he only came into contention at the 11th hour to get a wild card place, I haven’t had the same time to work with him to get him ready as I’ve had with the other players who sealed their places, a long time back.
He was talking the other day about how Dubuisson is a complete enigma, a really private person, generally casts a pretty lonesome figure on tour and was very shy in his initial dealings with him when he secured his place on the team. But his research revealed Dubuisson has a massive passion for fast cars so McGinley arranged dinner with himself, Dubuisson and Eddie Jordan on a private yacht in Monaco at Grand Prix time last Spring and he’s been tight with Dubuisson ever since.

I understand the Ryder Cup captaincy is an honorary non paying position. Presumably though there’s serious opportunity to cash in on this if you’re a European winning captain, particularly for someone like McGinley when you have the likes of Des Cahill as one of the hottest properties on the Irish corporate speaking/after dinner circuit.
Anyone any insight as what this could be worth to McGinley if Team Europe could somehow win it, in spite of him?
