Scottish Football (SPFL, Scottish Cup, Bet Fred Cup, Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup)

Sevco are one up. They have turned the screw as the game went on and the goal was coming.

Hibs do look dangerous though. Doig down the left flank has got into some really promising positions.

Hibs should have had a penalty there.

Hibs should have had another penalty there.

The kick to the head?

Hibs are banging on the door here.

Sevco hanging on.

Sevco hang on.

They’re not great though, they tend to grind teams down but they are short on quality. They look really nervy lately but Celtic haven’t been able to apply the pressure on them.

If Celtic an now go on a 10/11 winning streak Sevco will feel the heat and start dropping points.

Today a potentially tricky one for Celtic on plastic pitch and a storm ???

Huns Played 20 Points 56
Celtic Played 17 Points 40

Celtic have three league clean sheets in a row, albeit the opposition hasn’t been from the top half.

I thought there was a chance the huns might come unstuck in one of their recent league games but they’ve come through them despite not being as impressive as before.

I think the league is all but won/lost if they beat us next week. There’s a psychological aspect to it and I wouldn’t see them slipping if they extend an already healthy lead and get another infusion of confidence.

On the other hand, things would get quite interesting if Celtic can turn them over. They imploded after Christmas last year and their fixtures later in January are tricky enough with away fixtures against Aberdeen, Motherwell and Hibs.

A draw wouldn’t be a disaster next week provided Celtic win their games in hand. Things could be tighter when Celtic host the third derby in March and I’ve seen 7 point leads lost in the last 6 games so there may be plenty of twists and turns ahead.

In conclusion, the league could be practically finished next week or it might not be.

The huns collapsing in the new year/ after the break like the last few seasons has to be on their mind. It is imperative that we beat them and then see how they cope with the rest of their tricky January fixtures. Need them to stumble through a few more rounds of the EL and the odd cup replay/ match postponement, we’ll see what they are made of then.

Ultimately this would be all useless if we can’t get a run going ourselves but I think we have to go with Sorro/ Turnbull and Edouard/ Griffiths for the foreseeable. Ajer seems back to his best the last few games too.

A draw isn’t a disaster as @Bandage said but we really need to be cranking this up.

We have a big squad, we have no other distractions. It’s now about putting together a winning streak of 11/12 games and seeing what the huns are made of. I think they could be brittle, they have won a lot of plaudits now but they have had no pressure on them, they have had their rivals in crisis fucking everything up but now the heat needs to go on them and see how they handle it.

Ideally I’d rather this game was another month down the line as we are probably still fairly brittle ourselves.

@Bandage
@Rocko

When do we expect to catch up on our games in hand? Is it when the EL resumes, one would expect Sevco to advance to the next round.

Celtic just need to take a game at a time so ideally a win at Ibrox but I’d take a draw now.

As things stand barring calloffs we won’t catch up games wise until 8 games before the season ends (first week of March). But this is likely to change anyway eg if Livi make the league cup final their get with der hun in February will be postponed in, you can also bet your life there will be other postponements due to covid/ weather/ replays along the way. They will actually go 4 games ahead of us next month for a day after they play Aberdeen

Surely these games could have been facilitated earlier.

Who are our games in hand with?

Aberdeen?
St Mirren?
???

The Aberdeen game could easily have been refixed for the night the League Cup quarters took place as both Celtic and Aberdeen had been knocked out.

Aberdeen, St. Mirren and Livi.

We chose not to push for a refixture the week of the Cup final, it would have had to have been agreed when we we’re in the middle of that awful slump, and the potential of losing it before the final…it was also the first midweek break some players had for nearly 2 months (including international fixtures) so I can understand the logic at the time

Are Celtic value at 4/1 to win the league ???

If we don’t beat the huns this weekend , the league is over.
Sin e.

Ok guys, I’m in the recent results are appearing over the cracks camp. Lennon has an abysmal record in big games and if we lose all the vitriol he and lawell get is deserved.

Why would results appear over cracks?

No matter how shit Celtic are they should be beating Hamilton

Also performances only average

Rangers haven’t given away a penalty this season

Celtic have been the biggest contributors to that operation unfortunately.

Must win tomorrow
