Scottish Football (SPFL, Scottish Cup, Bet Fred Cup, Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup)

And what a save just now.

McInnes wearing the same sour puss on him that Graeme Souness wore at this venue on the opening day of the 1986/87 season.

This is magnificent fare. The SPFL is where it’s at right now in European and World football and if it’s happening outside SPFL in club football it might as well not be happening at all.

Keeper saves again!

Two more big saves ar each end.

A Fenian favour. Hibs should always be led by a big baldy burly fecker you wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of like Jim Duffy or John Yogi Hughes the second or David Gray.

Fantastic.

It’s not one of the best. It is the best. By a mile.

Are the Tims still calling for Nancy boy to get the sack?

Yes. He just scraped a win against Livingston

No. It’s somewhat on hold. A lot seeing what he is trying to do although they are leaking goals. Some dissecting his interviews rather than dissecting the games.

I think @rocko was exactly correct. This could limp on with ekeing out a few results against lads staggering off a week on the herring fleet.

They seem to be. Seemingly this new coach brings with him a sophisticated style of play which could improve Glasgow Celtic’s dismal record outside the League of Scotland on the European stage.

The Green Brigade are beside themselves with worry though that initial teething problems with this new style could jeopardise the push this season for 5 in a row League of Scotland titles, 14 of the last 15 and 56 in total. The mystical 10 in a row league titles remains the holy grail.

A lot of Celtic supporters believe Coach NANCY’s style is a football equivalent of Bazball, ie. something that advertises itself as an explosive modern “philosophy”, but which in fact throws out some of the fundamental, unchanging principles of the game to disastrous effect, and is thus doomed to failure.

Celtic are only on 55 league titles.

There’s another team in Glasgow also on 55 league titles.

So this league title race is a big one, or should be. Were Celtic to win it would be the first time since 1929 that Celtic have led the roll of honour.

However a lot of Celtic supporters like to claim that other club has only won 1 league title, so they are choosing to eschew the historical significance of this title race.

Or perhaps they look to the fact that Rangers’ first championship in 1891 was shared with Dumbarton, thereby effectively meaning Celtic already lead the roll of honour 55 to 54 and a half.

I have no doubt it is absolutely critical for Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers as to what way the top of the roll of honour looks at the end of this season and the possibility of a changing of the guard there for the first time since 1929 could lead to Great Depression. Equally important no doubt, for Glasgow Celtic to bring up title Number 61 and a 10 in a row in 2031.

Maybe the interests of Scottish football and competitiveness at large might just be better served though than the usual two bald men arguing over a comb scenario if Heart of Midlothian were to end a 66 year wait for title Number 5 and the breaking of a 41 year duopoly. If it can’t happen in a season where both of the Glasgow pair are in turmoil and already have had multiple managerial changes by the half way mark, will it ever happen?

If Celtic can’t win the league I’d like to see Rangers win it.

While not winning the ten in a row in 2021 was a bitter pill to swallow, the pill was sugared just a little bit by the fact it was Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team that denied Celtic that historic honour.

As it is that group of players who won that nine in a row between 2012 and 2020 under Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila, Brendan Rodgers and then Neil Lennon again will have to be content with being equal in their status as legends with the Lisbon Lions.

They at least secured the historical distinction for Celtic of having two nine in a rows to Rangers’ one. That’s very important.

For clarity purposes, list of Scottish league titles:

Celtic 55
Rangers 54
Sevco 1

Another big night ahead. I think goal difference will keep Celtic from top spot but Motherwell are playing superb football and could pick holes in Celtic defence.

Celtic losing their 10 in a row to a club that was only in operation for a few years is possibly the worst capitulation in sports history
