There’s a gated entrance to Villierstown isn’t there? I delivered beer to a pub there a long time ago; I believe it was called “An Crúiscín Lán” of “The Full Pint”.
Doesn’t some English Lord own a lot of the fishing rights along the Blackwater from the bend in Cappoquin to Youghal.
That’s the route we took on childhood trips back to my auld lad’s home place near Fermoy. We’d stop on the far side of Waterford city for a choc ice or brunch & then onwards towards to Cork.
A giant killing act could be on the cards at East End Park. Scottish Cup holders Aberdeen trailing 2-0 at Dunfermilne inside half an hour in their quarter final tie.
That’s a hammer blow for Heart of Midlothian losing down in Ayrshire against Kilmarnock. The Jambos don’t seem to be getting any of their long term injured key players like Devlin and Shankland back.
The Motherwell title challenge has all but died in 7 days with back to back defeats on the road at Dundee and Glasgow Celtic. The Jambos need to be very careful.
It could well now be swinging all too predictably towards the two establishment Glasgow sides. The Big House invariably always ultimately prevails.
Incredibly dramatic ending to the Tayside derby. 94th & 96th minute goals for the Dee to salvage a 2-2 draw against the Arabs. Terrific own goal at the death here. No wonder the whole world has become fixated on Scottish football.
In the earlier game, Rangers earned a scratchy 1-0 win at managerless St Mirren.
I had it on on a stream without a commentary. I wasn’t actually watching it up until about the 90th minute but I could hear the oohs and aahs of the crowd in the background. It was like being on an INTERNET version of Clonliffe Road. So I wouldn’t have known who scored or anything.
I think they’re struggling badly from my viewing of the injury time period. But all you can do is win.
Rangers Glasgow are taking on European heavyweights Aberdeen under new manager Stephen Robinson in an unusual 5:45pm Saturday kick-off.
I might be wrong but I think Hearts have won their last four home games 1-0 but lost their last three away games sprinkled in amongst them. It was seemingly a set piece header by McEntee today - they’ve been very strong on those & have carried a set piece goal threat all season - but their general displays have been fairly creaky for quite a while. That said, it’s win by any means necessary at this stage & move on.
I do enjoy the psychology of a title race & how the sequencing of each match day appears to impact the games. For example, I didn’t think it was a coincidence that Hearts lost at Kilmarnock last Saturday night after Celtic came from behind to defeat a good Motherwell side earlier in the day.
I won’t bother watching the huns now but Celtic go last this weekend, away to Dundee United tomorrow lunchtime, so I’m keen to see how they handle it if the other two have wins in the bag.
A 4-1 home win for the Teddy Bears over Aberdeen. Teddy Bears have a goal difference of +30 now, Heart of Midlothian +28, Glasgow Celtic +24. That could be crucial yet.
The Teddy Bears are leading Jim Goodwin’s Dundee United 2-0 at Ibrox and are going top of the table for the first time this season. They have the look of champions.
2-1. The Tangerines pull a goal back on the stroke of half time.
