Second Captains

I don’t think I would do that.

Didn’t hear it but the sooner the better McDevitt loses the other gimps, the better.

Listened to the championship Second Captains for the first time on the way home from Ibrox today.

Terrible stuff. Tipperary hurling fan - despite being a born and bred Dub - Niall Quinn predictably wheeled out. Practically no analysis or insight to the matches. Spent more time talking about Lee Chin’s physique than what actually happened in the Wexford-Limerick match.

They really need to tone back their constant quips/sarcasm/attempts at humour and do some proper analysis. I could nearly understand the light-hearted nature in a midweek show but most real GAA supporters at 6pm on a Sunday are keen to have some genuine insights into the games that have just finished.

Their target audience is very different for this radio show rather than their podcast. I don’t think many middle aged and elderly men want to hear about the physique of Lee Chin as they are driving home

Listened to this for the first time this evening. Utter shite.

Bring back Take Your Point

Correct, they need to realise they are broadcasting to genuine sports fans that actually attend game and not to hipster fans who listen in while sipping on craft beer while posting inane comments on the internet

I thought it passed an hour fairly harmlessly. I didn’t get too hot under the collar about the homoerotic stuff.

Their target market is craft beer drinking retards.

Hadn’t read your post . Sorry. You forgot retard though.

TJ Ryan did talk very fast in that interview though

You know what I’m sayin’.

That is how he talks.

Last month we named the sat nav ‘Teege’, taking us where we want to go.

I take the point about the ‘humour’ stuff being overdone and a bit forced but Jesus they had to try something different. The usual Brian carthy/Tom Dempsey/ rte style of bullshit offend no one dublin didn’t bring enough intensity, tipp looked hungrier, the game will bring them on, theyve been a breath of fresh air, midfield will be key style ‘analysis’ has been done to death and back again too.

he came across a bit like spud at that job interview in trainspotting

I thought it was grand. Nothing special, but grand and easy and passed an hour travelling through Mordor.

I’ve never heard this clearly “national broadcast”…
Shannonside/Northern Sound/OceanFM do a weekend broadcast covering local contests.

There’s some great observations: “Fuckin’ penalty there Willie” (voice un-identifiable - but a former Leitrim No. 12).
“More flies here than around an ice-cream stand in Salthill”- Fuck off Willie, where’s them tinnies?

Did you hear the bit where he said they trained awful hard the week of the Cork game. Was he being serious?

Media whore Seamus Hickey currently on RTE2 on this now
