I think you’ll find that TFKLCSG called this a long way out.

There had been signs that had taken our concerns on board but it’s disappointing to hear that a once fine establishment is again on a slippery slope.

I don’t eat food from chippers though pal, I am far too healthy, but I appreciate the thought.

I see there is a Luigis on Fr. Russell road now as well, in beside Spar( it was slatterys before I think). Is this linked to the other one? I presume it is. I expect a report on it by the end of next week from one of ye.

that is ChocolateMice territory.

I would like to become a member and in fact signed up to this forum for this reason only.

Originall from the southside of the city but now reside in northside after spending a number of years living close to the peoples park.

Luigis, Slattery’s, Golden Grill, Lobster Pot, Yellow Road, Rio’s, Fusco’s, Grove Island, Donkeys, used to cycle from the southside to both Naughton’s on Edward Street and Parnell Street (sadly closed down) for chips and a bag of mushy peas.

I think this is a fantastic forum and would like to join up and provide a few reviews.

Please rank your top 5 limerick chippers in order of preference, with 1 being your favourite.

You will have to construct sentences better than that if you want to post here-are you saying that all of these chippers used to cycle to Naughton’s to buy chips and mushy peas?

Apart from that, welcome aboard mate.

  1. Ford’s. The original and still the best.

  2. Frida’s, Ballyanty. Off the beaten track but a hidden gem.

  3. Enzo’s, William St. Long established and still class.

  4. Fusco’s, Garryowen. Massive portions.

  5. Slattery’s, Fr. Russell Road. May have closed but was superb while open.

Who the fuck calls it Fords???

Haven’t indulged in any proper Limerick Chippers lately but I was in some kebab shop beside the Zweeton on Denmark street recently and it was savage. Had a few on board at the time which makes the experience less reliable, but I got a donner chips and it was epic.

Hi Horesebox.

Sorry about the mix up.

When i was 11/12 i used to cycle from our home on the Southside to Naughton’s chipper on Edward Street for my dad to get chips and mushy peas.

I’m sure one or two lads here will fondly remember the sawdust on the floor.

The same establishment was also referred to as Greasy Joe’s.

It was The Yellow Road for a number of years after Naughton’s shut their doors.

Luigi’s in my opinion can be hit and miss.

The quality of the sausages and fish is never in questions but sometimes the chips can be a let down.

The portion sizes of chips can also be a let down at times but they do a decent curry pie.

I’ve not read through the thread completely but from what i have read i see no mention of the onion ring.

Most of these Italian style chippers do top notch onion rings with Fusco’s being right up there for me.

Ok they repeat and may cause heart burn later on but the onion ring can be very pleasant
