Got a thought on the train home last night it’s nearly 24 years ago since I started commuting from Mullingar and then I thought when I started if you go back another 24 years I was only born…time flies🤦♂️
Last week, the third lad from my leaving cert year to die passed away.
Just heard there another lad from a neighbouring parish who player soccer with us for a few years (around my own age I suppose) passed away. Was living in Laois for years.
Wouldn’t have been lads I would have had any contact with since school days, nor would they be fellas I’d have called friends or anything, but two young-ish men gone.
Went to school in Newport. Two schools there. Known in my day as the convent and the tech. I was in the former. I’d say there must have been 40+ boys in our year, more I think of it. We were definitely outnumbered by girls but there must have been 100 students total in the year
