Surely if they are in county championships they should be in provincal club championships instead of the teams they beat in county final etc. Ucc can go forward.
No and Kerry should not be allowed field teams in the intermediate or junior provincial and AI series due to their senior championship only having 8 senior clubs.
I’d agree with that. Gaeltacht intermediate for example. Would beat most senior teams.
The 9th best team in a football mad county represents Kerry at intermediate level against usually the 13th best or 17th best team in another county.
The Carlow Senior Hurling Championship has gone from 8 to 4 teams over the past decade. Should Carlow not be allowed field teams in the intermediate, junior provincial and All Ireland series because of this?
8 senior teams is a grand amount. Much too many clubs around the country appearing to be senior when they’re far from it.
it has a cascading effect on intermediate and junior strength too. Makes them worthwhile competitions.
Gives a greater spread of clubs being represented at county level too across intermediate and junior.
Divisions shouldn’t be allowed into senior club not to mind the all ireland series
No.
I’ve no problem with divisional sides tbh. They rise tide of club football and offer outlets to junior clubs. I’d love to see it in Laois.
Yes
No to divisional clubs, agree there are far too many pretend senior clubs
No
They should introduce a divisional all ireland
Not a bad idea. Maybe they should increase it from just divisional though, maybe another level up from divisional? Could work.
I think divisional teams should be limited to just junior clubs. You see it a lot where one of the top intermediate teams is backboning a divisional team which isn’t fair in my opinion.
There isn’t really even 8 big clubs in kerry. Out of curiosity how many clubs is there in kerry?
50 odd
As @myboyblue says 8 teams is nearly enough senior teams in most county’s.Way too many clubs are obsessed with being “senior”.
You’re dead right, teams should have absolutely no aspirations to progress and get better and play at higher levels.
Define “Big Club”
