Significant people's (not celebrities) deaths

remember him commentating on the 4 game saga between the dubs and Meath - the way he would say “here come the Meath men” was always delivered with a sense of fear and carnage .

I have, my apologies. The '09 final was also epic.

A friend of mine was playing in the 10 final and he got injured.

Morey was outstanding that day for Clare I think.

How in the name of all that’s good and fuckciful was Ger canning the main tv commentator for the 30 or 40 years while he was consigned to the radio??

Morey’s performed at corner back in the 2010 Minor Final was as good as you’d see.

I briefly interacted with Micheal in Dingle on NYE 2018. I’m glad i did.

An Irish icon.

I remember being in the car listening to the Tyrone v Dublin Quarter Final in August 2008 which began in end of days weather. It started to clear after 20 minutes and Micheal proclaimed, “i can see the Hill of Howth now”.

Every time I’m sitting in the Upper Hogan since and see the Hill of Howrh in the distance i think of him.

Ya I remember thinking morey was going to be one of the best ever after that performance. I doubt I’ve ever watched the game back or anything but it always stood out in my mind as one of the great corner back performances.

It was a brilliant Minor Final.

Ger Aylward scored a point under the Hogan to seal it for Kilkenny late on that got an almighty roar.

I Gotta Feelin by the Black Eyed Peas roared out on the tannoy as Archbishop Clifford handed over the Cup to Cillian Buckley.

There was a real element of bigness associated with All Ireland Finals back in those days.

Hard to believe next year Will mark the 20th anniversary of the first all Ireland I remember attending. Galway v Limerick in the minor and cork v Galway in senior.

I’d say a lot of people attended just to see 15/16 year Joe canning play in the minor. I was a huge Eoin Ryan fan who was limericks star man. It never quite worked out for him like it did Joe canning.

Five from Kilmallock on that minor team. Liam Hurley, Eoin Ryan, Gavin O’Mahony, John Kelly, Brian O’ Sullivan.

Seamus Hickey was playing that day with the long socks and stood out.

Gavin O Mahoney pushed on but a lot didn’t. Probably not the greatest minor final of all time outside of the great Joe Canning.

Didn’t John Kelly get very very ill shortly after that? Glandular fever wasn’t it?

Brian o Sullivan was a good hurler too.

I just looked at the match report. A d Allis came on would he have been Conor’s brother?

Skehill was in goals as well.

Ger Flynn was seriously highly touted back then in goals for Limerick but never developed.

In fairness, Limerick got a good batch of seniors from that panel who backboned our 2013/2014 teams and generally got us competitive again post-strike.

Condon, Gavin, Jim Bob, Hickey, Richie Mac were all involved. Lacked scoring forwards though, like a lot of Limerick teams of the time.

I think it was George Allis from Doon.
