There is a lovely story about Mannion told by his manager on the radio doc. The McCallum fight was in Madison square Garden and the Irish came from all over. Mannion put up a gallant fight but was well beaten on points. Himself and his manager left the Garden to go to an Irish Bar across the road to meet up with family and friends. The bar was wedged and there was a long queue outside. Mannion refused to go to the top and insisted to taking his place in the queue. He had dark glasses on to hide the bruises and no one recognised him.
That sort of humility is in short supply in the US these days.
