Significant people's (not celebrities) deaths

There’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. She must have been a good age.

  1. Née Cruess-Callaghan. Survived by her sisters Croasdella and Consuelo.

A better class of name

Her husband was a surgeon at the Mater. Billy, I think it was William but me oul’ fella called him Billy. He did me oul’ fellas varicose veins during his wife’s tenure as Lord Mayor.

Were they anything to the GAA’s CCC, Cruella De Ville or the Coachella music festival?

There is a lovely story about Mannion told by his manager on the radio doc. The McCallum fight was in Madison square Garden and the Irish came from all over. Mannion put up a gallant fight but was well beaten on points. Himself and his manager left the Garden to go to an Irish Bar across the road to meet up with family and friends. The bar was wedged and there was a long queue outside. Mannion refused to go to the top and insisted to taking his place in the queue. He had dark glasses on to hide the bruises and no one recognised him.

That sort of humility is in short supply in the US these days.

I was in college with Carmencita’s son, Bill Jnr. A thoroughly alright sort.

It was on rte. Has to be true

The men didn’t get the same consideration for the names it seems

Christy Maye, entrepreneur and pioneer of the disco business in Ireland has passed away.
He was a busy man during his life, many plates spinning at the wan time….RIP.

I heard he swept the floor in both dressing rooms and brought home the bloody towels to wash them

The Connemara boys would have been known for their etiquette in queues to get into a bar in the likes of New York and London alright .
