Sinn Fein - Populism and Partionism

That yarn about the Munster final you told was unreal

It was epic in fairness. The crowd were fit to lynch Fitzgerald and he waving out of the state car and along comes CJH, walking, in a rare show of support for the common man. Oh! he was some man to exploit an opening.

On a more sombre note, it’s nearly 40 years ago.

I know they’re probably out of my league but By God (credit Buff Egan) Charvet made a lovely shirt.

Haughey was an utter scumbag and thief. He stole from the state and demanded cash off any businessman who wanted to do anything. And occasionally bought the people with a half decent policy. Having said that he spent it all well and lived the opulent lifestyle of a gangster or drug dealer. Food, drink, women, horses, boats, a fucking island even! Varadkar, Cowan and Bertie fucked the country with zero panache or style.

We’d be in an awful state without Lemass and Haughey.

Charles H was a corrupt lying bastard.

Ah ok, it’s alright so that they only placed bombs instead of lobbing them at folk.

He mugged off Gaybo there.

Bigtime, humourous clip in fairness.

We used to be a proper country.

The housing situation in this country has gone to fuck since you stopped being able to corrupt the planning process.
Haughey created an Irish version of the oligarchs though. Desmond, Magnier, JP etc.

@Tim_Riggins

Yes. We used to be the United Kingdom.

And so what? That’s accepted. The last hope of Sinn FĂ©in not getting in was in 2020 really, and probably 2016.

Doesn’t negate the discussion we’re having.

29% in the North. Good enough to take some more power in power sharing governments but United Ireland it ain’t. Taking power in the South will be even more unhelpful with regard to that cause.

Pretty much in the wrong place at the wrong time, yes. His friend Devine was no angel but it was a run of the mill bit of sledging in a bar that turned to a violent assault on two of them and a murder.

If it happened anywhere else there would be witnesses and a straightforward conviction. There was a couple of bus loads of Sinn FĂ©in members there though who all claimed to be in the toilet. CCTV was deleted and the place was scrubbed by the IRA.

All of this seven years after the GFA but I’m sure they blamed the Brits in some way for it.

No one talked apparently, but Tim has the full low down.

This is beyond question. You yourself said Sinn Feiners were suspended.
