Sinn Fein - Populism and Partionism

TFK leading centrist thinks he isnt a centrist

Outside of Donegal and DMW is there anywhere they have shot of a second seat now?

Regarding Stanley, the rumours are it’s “misconduct”. Lynn Boylan alluded to same.

Did he “drop the hand”

Louth and CM

Gardai involved now

What has Mary Lou done wrong in SFs fall from grace and what could they do to reverse it?

First time they ever went to the Gardai voluntarily

Sinn Fein got pinched from their right by the headbangers who only voted for them in the first place because they were “Oireland for the Oirish” fascists or pure “I hate everything” protest voters. Sinn Fein’s mistake was to try and appease the headbangers by moving their stance on immigration towards that of the headbangers. That could never work. Once the headbangers are gone from you, they never come back. Appeasing them NEVER works.

The move to appease the headbangers simultaneously alienated Sinn Fein’s younger “woke” supporters.

There’s also a sense that other countries are being destabilised by headbanger politics and there’s probably a bit of cold feet on the part of the electorate here. There’s a feeling that things could be better but they aren’t bad by world standards and we’d be better off to just keep tipping along.

Mary Lou is not an inspiring speaker, Pearse Doherty is too shouty, other things like the perception of bullying and extreme control within the party don’t help either but they aren’t the main problems. The media is obviously heavily biased against them too.

General Election campaigns can take on a life of their own as most people aren’t tuned in to politics very much outside of campaigns and there could be scope for them to rebound a bit but it’s hard to see them suddenly rebounding like they did in the 2020 campaign.

TV debates matter more here than they do elsewhere though. More people are swayed by them as there is a lot more of a floating vote in Ireland.

What’s their stance on the Gardai anyway? I remember their Donegal TD MacLochlainn on Vincent Browne once refusing to accept it was wrong to shoot Gardai.

Throw up a link to that please

Suppose sign of progress that seems no punishment beatings issued in this instance

Sounds like Laois is full of wrong uns

What’s Máiria suggesting here?

Hard to argue with that assessment, first chance at being a serious opposition party and they went in with feather gloves while expirenced campaigner in ff and fg made a show of them. Ffg support in polls rising is more failings by sf. Ffg havent been good but sf would be a disaster

I’d say SF only decided to refer the complaint to the guards in the last few days after all the kerfuffle about the reference for the child abuse fella.

Why all of a sudden is it worth reporting to the Gardai today when they let him a chair a meeting of the PAC after their “findings”?

Curiouser and curiouser.
