Oh i get it alright.

You ruin every thread, with boring repetitive copy and pasting.

Few points

  • Last I heard Best is due to start playing in March and looks out of condition which isn’t surprising given time he has been out for. I would have gone for Brady ahead of him myself.
  • Toss up between Touhy and O’Donogue really so no complaint there.
  • Henry deserves the call up and I could see him getting some game time.
  • Humps can rightly feel a little pissed not to be included but in fairness no point including him just for the sake of it.
  • Selection of Buckley reflects badly on the quality we have at prop currently.
  • I think Cave is a better player than McFadden. He was best player on the pitch against Edinburgh on Friday.

I can’t believe Ian Dowling has been included. Smashing to see Devin Toner get the nod though.

Agree with more or less everything there Larry really. Buckley is useless in many ways, bar the odd barnstorming run. The more i see him the more worrying it is for Munster and ireland. Personally i don’t think he’ll be in the mix for more than another year or two anyway, others should pass him out.

Didn’t see the game on friday, but heard Boss was superb. Have liked Cave myself for a while and glad he’s back playing well, but Earls and Horgans form could see them moving into contention in centre and wing. Only saw a bit of McFadden, so i wouldn’t say who’s the better player yet.

Really don’t rate Humpheries that much at all anymore. Thought he had something for a while, but he just doesn’t have the concentration and mental toughness to be a top player. If he’s our back up at 10 in the future i’d be worried.

When will Nacewa be playing for “Ireland”?

McFadden looked a fine player at the Churchill Cup, his lack of game time is working against him at Leinster. Cave hasn’t been as prominent this season as last, its a toss up really and is a nothing thing for me.

Tipper, Nacewa has played for Fiji and is inelligible to play for Ireland, but you know that.

Had very high hopes for Cave last season but he hasnt trained on like I would have hoped. Think McFadden probably doesnt have the same quality as Cave but I would prefer McFadden in my team at the moment, much better kicking option as well. McFadden has to leave Leinster IMO, go to England and play regular HEC and come back to Dublin in a few seasons.

Humphreys must have pissed in Kidneys cornflakes or something. Ridiculous he hasnt been included in a 40 man squad.

The Best call is obviously just a bit of forward thinking for latter half of 6 Nations. With Flannery not in full fitness for long this season and Fogarty not really that brilliant then they needed to get Best ready in case he’s needed. No harm to have hiim in the training squad anyway if they think he’ll be involved at all.

No real complaints otherwise. I’d be inclined to dispute the McFadden call too in terms of the A team but there’s not an awful lot between him and Cave and Cave hasn’t really pushed on as much as I thought he would. Still think he’ll improve and make a full international but needs to be a bit more imposing for Ulster regulalry first.

Scrum half should be a great battle. I think Boss is easily the form player but whether he can get the bench or not is debatable. Good to see Kidney having a look anyway.

Are you forgetting Sean Cronin? Think he is ahead of Fogarty in the pecking order, should be anyways.

2 Connacht reps is a v poor show
Think Mulddon and Duffy v hard done by and possibly Keatley when you consider Dowling and Micko getting spots

I agree re Micko but neither Micko ro Dowling are keeping out any of those COnnacht players you have mentioned. Keatley is not playing well at all this season and has been in and out of the team, although thats Bradleys trademark in fairness. Both Staunton and Humphreys are far more realistic options. Duffy is shit and any one of the Leinster academy would be a better bet to bring into an expanded squad than him. Connacht have as many players as they deserve, mentioned it on the other rugby thread but they started 6/7 NIQ players last weekend so they are not doing much of a development job really.

Micko? Christ almighty. Only for Kidney won the Grand Slam last year I’d be calling for him to be sacked. Dowling has no place in the squad either. He’s never going to be good enough to play for a full strength Ireland team. I’d put David Kearney or Niall Morris or Jamie Smith in instead of him and give them the opportunity to learn from being in the senior squad.

To be fair Mac, if thats the only problems you have with Kidney and the squad, he’s doing a good job.

Kidney had about as much to do with Ireland winning the Grand Slam as Avram Grant would have had if Chelsea won that shoot-out against Manchester United a couple of years ago. There was an experienced set of players in effect managing themselves in each case and the margins between success and failure were tiny in both instances and were not impacted by the manager / coach. The players were leading themselves. Kidney’s a treacherous snake who was worming his way out of Leinster on the sly when he should have been preparing us for crucial games. It’s a tribute to the qualities of the legendary Brian O’Driscoll that he managed to unite the dressing room in such circumstances.

Then why didnt Ireland win it before Kidney? You’re a funny guy Bandage, a right funny guy so you are so you are.

You’ll be delighted to hear Micko didn’t make the Munster squad.
