They have just run off a five minute report on SSN claiming that Gaelic games are killing Irish football and that we are where we are because kids would rather have a puck around than a kick about. :D:D:D
I saw that report this morning.
“Shane Long is a former Tipperary hurler and Seamus Coleman was a gaelic football star for Killybegs.”
Footage of a St Sylvester’s junior game and an interview with Keith Galvin.
Kids would also rather have a kick around than a kick around I should have added.
The few exceptions are Shane Long who was with the Tipperary hurling team and Seamus Coleman who played with Killybegs.

Hilarious stuff.

The reason more kids are playing Gaelic games are the facilities. The soccer crowd have fuck all, whilst GAA clubs in the capital have the finest clubhouses with the best of facilities.
Irish soccer is in terminal decline. The Bord Gais league is becoming more irrelevant with each passing year.
There isn’t even reports of the scumbag followers of the game knocking the heads off each other on the streets of Phibsboro.

We lost those two games on top by a combined margin of 7-1.
You’ve nailed your own problem there TWCB, soccer ball fans are more interested in watching it on TV than actually playing the game or even attending matches. Don’t see too many League of Ireland games on the list.

I think this proves what every knows. Soccer is the game of choice for the armchair viewer.
we can laugh at pal, but unfortunatly the country is full of little englanders who look to SSN and the english red tops for guidance,
@Rocko is a case in point but he even goes so far as to claim identity with the Scotch
people must look in from the outside a think what the fuck? its a crackpot situation, the english raped the place for 800 years and yet Paddy chooses to identify with british culture now he is free and will go so far as to dress his own kids up in a Liverpool jersey to ensure the tradition is passed on… fuck me
I thought that was rugby. Soccer fans often play or played soccer at some level.

in fairness, if you had kids would you let them anywhere near Shelbourne FC?
Croke Park may be rampant with child abusers ( parading kids in fabtasy blue costumes playing trombones is case in point), but it seems a safer option then sending them under the care of Olly Byrne and his associates

How do you explain Shamrock Rovers getting a crowd of 1,055 for a league game, a derby no less, against Bray Wanderers then?
a boycott against Crolly
pretty easy to explain mate
how do you explain one of the big stick hurling counties total league income being 4k?
that works out as an average attendance of 66 people

That was 2009, mate. The kids are walking away from the game.
Limerick City has always been a soccer mad city, but a lot of kids are walking around with hurls or going to rugby because they are better looked after. They still play soccer on the streets but schools have no interest in it and clubs have no facilities.
Was out with the girlfriends 3 nephews last night (east cork) and they’ve all gone mad for hurling after playing rugby and soccer since toddlers. The Club, Erins Own, invest so much time in them they are loving it… they still play rugby but soccer has been dropped.
