These Emma mattresses seem to be all the rage at the moment.
The little one has 3 tooths coming up … Fuck sleep.
My Mrs issues had issues with her back (carrying me in life, whuh whuh). Took us ages to get the right one but through experience found memory foam/gel and ones with toppers on them weren’t good for her back. Spent a grand on a king size mattress so you should be able to get a decent firm double for 600 or 700. At that price firm ones will be comfy.
Yeah my missus has had back trouble since the little one came along last year so that is big part of reason for an upgrade. We are looking for a standard double and memory foam does seem to be the way to go.
Looks good. €800 for an award winning mattress and buying 100% Irish produced too.
Be careful with memory foam it can get quite hot and lots of people myself included find it a bit uncomfortable. I returned one I had.
As @horsebox says be wary of memory foam or any of the other fancy stuff if your back gives you gyp.
The key to a good night’s sleep is to have the bedroom absolutely freezing …literally freezing, not in the my last marriage sense of the word
3 to 4 hours every night for a week now… I’m on the verge of snapping.
Serenity now.

Would you ever chance the odd nap in the middle of the day? The work from home gig is mighty in that regard. cc @Julio_Geordio
I find i don’t even have to have the nap most days. Just knowing you can is a great mental boost
Adenosine is a nucleoside that occurs naturally in all cells of the body. In the human brain adenosine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter and can act as a central nervous system depressant. When the body runs out of fuel in the form of easily digestible sugars from the food we eat, adenosine signals the body to become drowsy. The longer we are awake, the more it builds up. This increases our desire to sleep, and what Matthew Walker calls “sleep pressure”. Adenosine essentially tells us to sleep and rebuild our energy reserves. It’s a critical chain reaction that initiates the early stages of non-REM sleep and is essential to the natural sleep cycle.
Caffeine takes up the receptor sites of the adenosine, which blocks and inactivates the receptors. Studies have found that when mice are dosed with adenosine they show indicators associated with Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, and cancers of the central nervous system. Matthew Walker’s research has drawn the same links between caffeine, it’s impact on the body’s adenosine receptor sites, and Alzheimer’s, cancer, etc. If you are still drinking coffee, you are slowly killing yourself.
Fuck you. I was just enjoying my first coffee of the day when I read that.
You should never drink coffee within an hour of waking up.
It’s all and will be all fucked up now for the next few days. Between medication and the weather, I haven’t a fucking clue whether I’m coming or going (even more so than usual)
Careful on the road if you’re at it kid
Fell asleep twice at the wheel in the past doing the bollox I was(years ago)
No Boss. I’m out until at least the end of the month.
