Sleep - a thread to document your sleeping habits

No. It’s about the science behind sleep.

Yer man Rogan doesn’t have have a great record on the science does he?

Is Rogan being interviewed??? No.
Are you trying to be clever? Yes, as usual.

Listen to it, or don’t. But fuck off annoying me with your fanny acting.

It was a simple question mate, you’re a big Rogan fan so I thought you might be able to answer. There’s really no need to get your knickers in a knot.

My knickers are untwisted.

The sleep expert presents some very interesting facts about the benefits of sleep, it’s role in our evolution, performance and sickness/health.

I listen to one or two Rogan shows a year.

End.

You got fierce triggered altogether there over a simple question.

Ive already said too much

One (1) hour of sleep last night before a 5am start. I’m in great form…

Great advice. And @farmerinthecity, I’d strongly recommend getting Matthew Walker’s book, Why We Sleep. If you can get into a routine of no screen time after, say 8pm, and read a chapter of his book instead, there’s a good chance the content will put you to sleep - which is exactly what he’s after. I haven’t listened to his interview with Rogan, which @Thomas_Brady posted, but I would imagine it’s excellent. Walker is an expert in this field.

Have you been to a doctor?

Don’t feel sorry for him, it’s only jet-lag he has…

I’ve been to many

There hasn’t been a sound out of @farmerinthecity for a couple of days - he’s probably comatose in the leaba now for 36 hours with the problem solved.
His failure to decorate the Pints thread on a Friday evening confirms my suspicions.

@farmerinthecity I used to suffer from terrible sleep at least once a week. The mind would kick off as soon as my head hit the pillow and spin for hours about all sorts of random shit. I’d try lying on the couch to change scenery and would be lucky to get an hour or two.

A few things that were absolute game changers.

  1. My phone stays in the kitchen now at night time. Been doing this since July. Heard about others doing it and was very dismissive but it makes a huge difference.
  2. Got a Kindle and started reading before bed again and in bed
  3. Turn off TV about 20 mins before bed
  4. Read away on the couch for a while till I feel tired and sleepy and head for bed. Usually within 5 mins in bed I’m fast asleep. I’d say I’ve had 1 bad night since the start of July.

Don’t expect all of that is practical or works for everyone but there is some logic in a lot of it and it’s very easy to do.

I’d put the phone away at least an hour before I go to bed, every night except Sunday for fantasy NFL purposes,
No surprise to know which night I always sleep poorly.

History books are ideal bedtime reading for the bad sleeper, interesting enough that you’d be looking forward to reading a bit, but boring enough to make you a bit sleepy (I’ll be kilt for that)

A bit mate. A lot of anxiety is basically the problem but working on it.

Thanks for all for the comments on here. :+1:

No offence to anyone but sometimes engaging too much with a topic of anxiety is the worst thing you could. I’ve intentionally kept away for that reason but all support is very much appreciated.
