Sleep - a thread to document your sleeping habits

I’ve always done this too apart from when I was in college. If I hadn’t to be up early for work on weekday mornings I’d easily sleep about 9 hours a day. Not having the phone in the bedroom must be a key factor in that.

You definitely don’t have kids then :joy:

Too young for kids still. That’ll effect my sleep in the future alright😂

Anxiety is a dose mate. Feel better

@glasagusban will be livid you posted that chap up.

I’ve given my 2 cent here before but the reality is that you can survive on very little sleep and whilst it’s probably not a good thing in the longer term, acknowledging this fact in the short term takes away the anxiety of ‘I can’t sleep’.

I remember going through a bad patch years ago and reading Papillon during those weeks. The key character went days without sleep sometimes and still ploughed on and there was a great comfort in that, silly as it sounds.

Walker has great advice but when he’s telling you that not sleeping 7 hours or more is slowly killing you, that doesn’t help. I know 2 people in their 80s who slept fuck all over the years and there isn’t a bother on them.

I’m sorry to hear that. How much land do they have between them?

Most of his advice goes out the window for a shift worker

I’d like to dedicate this ‘good reply’ to @LionelRitchie . What a guy, there when you need him.

Literal disaster at the moment. Tossing and turning every night. Eyes feel heavy non-stop. Performance through the floor at the gym. Loving life…

Have you gone to a doctor about it?

I have. I’ve gone to several. They give me sleeping pills. They work for a bit, then they dont. Then we repeat

The Theory: Shift work has fucked your circadian rhythm. Research suggests that you need to get natural daylight (lux) into you in the first hours of the day… 10 minutes will do.

I do that most days I’m off. I’d be big on going for a long walk everyday anyway. Aim for 14,000 steps, plus a decent gym session, most days

I only get about 5 hours any night, even at the weekends. It doesn’t bother me much though cause I’m busy all the time I can’t sit down and do nothing.

I’m usually about the same. Cant remember the last time I got 8. Last few weeks have been especially bad though. Been banished to the couch a good few times
