“Transport is a doddle…”
It isn’t Shane Ross’s role to come in and subvent a failing commercial service. The PTO routes are not the problem.
I think he is a gobshite generally, but he is correct here.
He doesn’t have to bring cash to the table, but he might at least be at the table and smash their heads together.
They’re on a great salary for what they do. All that’s being cut is their over-time which is not part of base pay.
Grand that won’t affect whether they get a decent wage or not so? Idiot.
He will be very upset to hear that there has been a wildcat strike when he gets up out of bed. I imagine it will spoil his soft boiled egg and toast soldiers.
I pity her
People shouldn’t treat overtime income as guaranteed.
Secondary pickets being lifted now.
From last night:
They’ve already gone to the table.
The Unions are willing to give 500k of savings.
Bus Eireann needs 9 million.
This country has very good systems in place for solving industrial relations disputes. Use them and if they can’t work anything out (which they seemingly can’t), then the company goes to the wall. There are operators lining up to bid for the PTO routes, which incidentally we are required to be tendering to all by 2019 anyway.
First fleet of buses now departing Ringsend Road bus garage to enter service. Live shot from my (wrap around) balcony:
You live over a bus depot?
What aren’t you at work?
Camden Locke? (or where it used to be, haven’t been down there in years).
If Bus Eireann drivers wanted to keep the public on side they should just keep driving the routes and not take any money.
They’re losing a truckload of money everyday so your solution is to run the service for free?
My solution for the bus drivers to carry out industrial action whilst keeping the public on side. Poorly worded on my part.
The idiot is the person who thinks it’s reasonable and fair that the tax payer should be fleeced for loss making commercial services to solely protect a small segment of society.
If a normal private bus company ran out of money, it would go to the wall. There is no difference to the Expressway situation other than these drivers all have union rates.
The people supporting a further subvention here are the exact types who screamed murder at bailing out the banks.
Good way for them to clear out the union membership so, when they’re up in court for theft.
