So, who's striking today? Which Side are You On

So why does it cost more in Ireland than the UK?

Cool. So why the bother when BE negotiate their remuneration so ? Sure that’s what the drivers are doing ? What’s your beef with that ?

I’m self employed. I turn my own buck. I don’t have any PRSI to fall back on.

That’s what they are negotiating right now.

The Expressway service needs a certain staff cost and flexibility to compete. Otherwise they’re fucked. It’s called the real world.

Again they either lay off hundreds of workers and just focus on PSO routes or they cut everyone’s wages. The Govt subvent the largesse of the PSO routes. They cannot do the commercial routes.

Public sector get paid more than private sector as we are more educated, intelligent and better looking. Can’t have fairer than that.

I work for a semi. I fight my own corner. You have IBEC to your corner. I have my union. Alls fair in love and war.
I bet because you’re self employed you have that dragons den sense of self entitlement, aye, I went out on my own. I can now walk on top of whatever poor pleb I decide to let into my office.
Your type do no good for Ireland. Give me a multinational any day.

I’m not pointing out big bad Europe.

I am delighted that they are stopping the monopoly of services and forcing this reckoning on a cosseted segment of Irish society.

Better ‘big picture’ thinkers too.

Sooner than that I’d imagine.

There are 4m commercial drivers in the US. Whoever pays them wants shot of them pronto.

Sigh

  • we we’re not fucking bitter as fuck because we didn’t get into the PS.

Nope.

No such thing as a government grant. No such thing as the dole. Work for several years getting paid below the poverty line. IBEC have nothing to do with me.

I don’t remember though, IBEC ever grinding Ireland to a hault in one morning though?

This is hysterical gibberish.

I know you’re not. But you’re saying it as if it’s sacrosanct. I’m just pointing out that every country tells Europe to fuck off when it doesn’t suit them, particularly the larger ones. It works out very nicely for pro-business FG.

It’s a common theme across Ireland. Generously funded departments providing shite services. When the crash came funding dried up. Salaries were maintained which meant services became shittier. Guards get a pay rise a few months ago. Look at the results. TDs give themselves 5k pay rise.

Be fook!!! IBEC have put more people abroad and more unfortunates 6 feet under than the Nazis did in 10 years, and you moan about workers standing up for themselves and their families right to a decent standard of living ?
It’s becoming apparent now that you’ve zero interest in the debate about how the rates and conditions of professional drivers can be improved, you’ve an agenda now because you stuck with some failed businnes idea, regardless of all he €kis that Ballyshannon enterprise committee dumped into it. A fucikng chimney sweep is never gonna match a professional drivers remuneration.

Sure they wouldn’t get it if they didn’t deserve it.

I’ve never started a business. Never taken a government grant.

What is this debate about improving the rates of professional drivers? Maybe get in contact with the hundreds of private bus drivers in the country so if you care so much. You care about one segment and one segment only, don’t pretend otherwise.

Maybe then we can start discussing what a fair wage for a chimney sweep is? Houses are expensive in Ireland. Everyone is due above the average industrial wage apparently.

You were the one to say that BE professional drivers were overpaid. How did you arrive at that finding ?
How ?

Subject to their peers and their company’s financial position. Simple.
