So, who's striking today? Which Side are You On

It’s spot on

Funny

I was just thinking the other day when the strike kicked off. The last time I was on a bus ( public ) or a train must be at least 25 years.
I have never been on the luas

Again, the spending is still below the % average spent by normal transport companies.

Most of their cap ex though, comes in the form of additional Govt money.

The management now are different to the management then btw. It’s a whole new management team.

Any one affected today ?

I am. Listening to whingers on the radio.

which whingers, the passengers, pretending to be outraged or the actual rail workers?

The passengers. One bird said that the rail workers “need to get with the program”.

Typical shite in this country.

No pay-cuts or job losses during the crash. Company making a loss. I want three 4% pay rises over the next 3 years. Sense of entitlement never ceases to amaze me.

They want a decent living and a decent standard of living for their families and that’s entitlement?
Do you want everyone to work for the minimum wage.

The ones moaning are the usual well if they are getting it why am I not?

They should get an increase.

The ones moaning are the ones that are too thick to get decent jobs, they’re happy to swallow any old shite from management about poor revenues blah blah, never mind that the same manger is most likely on €100k a year while the thickos work like skivvies for the minimum wage.

Who’s going to fund the pay rise?

They have. They’re called increments

That’s the key question. As far as I can see pay rises can come from one of 4 sources:

  1. Increased gov subsidy
  2. Increased fares
  3. Increased volumes of passengers
  4. Reduced costs

I don’t see the union really coming up with solutions for option 3 or really wanting to engage on option 4 (the most likely solution there being HR efficiencies) so they pretty much just want either the taxpayers or passengers to pay them more. I suppose the last option is we could reduce government spending somewhere else somehow to pay them more too - maybe they could ask for the Rugby World Cup money.

Where will the money come from for the pay increases?

They would be the same gobshites that give out their personal mobile number to people in the company and say call me if ya need help and then moan that they keep getting calls from work when at home.

They should cut teachers pay in order to give the train drivers a rise.
