Spanish Civil War Mark II

If there one thing I love itā€™s an Iberian autumn. Way better camera work and reporting than an Arab spring.

Technology has improved a lot in the meantime.

That and the cameraman isnā€™t at as much risk in the Iberian conflict zone.

Itā€™s almost like one could have predicted that the Catalan nationalist cause would gain in popularity due to a violent crackdown against it.

Prime Minister Rahoo doesnā€™t appear to have much emotional intelligence.

Didnā€™t he lose a general election his party looked certain to win because himself and the outgoing Prime Minister Aznar blamed the 2004 Madrid bombings on the Basques when the dogs on the street in Ballyhaunis could have told you it was Islamists?

The right wing buffoons in Madrid havenā€™t changed much over the years.

Reports that this afternoonā€™s Barcelona v Las Palmas match may be called off due to Las Palmas wanting to display a pro-Spanish unity message and a Spanish flag on their shirts.

Austerity has been the result of a state living grossly beyond its means for a decade up to 2008 .

Bullshit. Spain had a debt to GDP ratio of about 35% when the crisis hit.

They could call probably call off league football for good in an independent Catalonia if these secessionist rabble rousers have their way.

Similar to Ireland the borrowing to fund a big state was outsourced to the banks.

Thatā€™s some intantile understanding of the problem. Itā€™s like Ireland, we taxed a construction sector to pay for goodies for everyone. And when things go tits up, you look to tax more on other sectors of the economy to replace that lost revenue which naturally decreases activity in the rest of the economy. Wages rose too high and they became uncompetitive, their export industry was in big trouble by 2007. The euro fucked them far more than austerity.

They are now getting back on their feet due to lowering of costs.

The Spanish police are now beating up Catalan firefighters. This is an absolute shocker. #CatalanReferendum https://t.co/zJeTATJQxJ

Whatever hope Madrid had of quelling the independence movement, they have completely blown it now. Unbelievable stupidity.

Itā€™s like the aftermath of the Easter Rising where the execution of the rebel leaders made people more sympathetic to the independence side. The same will probably happen here with those on the fence going towards the pro independence side

Give uneducated twaats a batten and sure what do you expect

beat them harder is what I say
