Spanish Civil War Mark II

it would sicken you the way they portray people breaking the law of the land as victims, its the same craic in oireland, the law is very clear in Spain, but these lads think they are special, The Spanish constitution which Catalonia ratified 20 years ago states that the national territory is indivisible. Spain’s government is not allowed to let Spain be divided unless Spain votes to change the constitution. They lefty headbangesr hate laws

What’s happening at the polling stations is a reflection of the need for the Madrid conservatives to look tough ahead of what’s coming next - another blast of austerity for a country that’s been crippled by it.

There wouldn’t have been a huge amount to celebrate in any referendum outcome as the independence movement has been purely nationalist and economically is fairly neo-liberal. But the police hospitalising close to 1000 people has turned a political flash-point into something that will have massive repercussions. How many radical Catalan nationalists have they created today?

Of course they have you simple cunt. Riot police have stormed polling stations and beaten people who were trying to vote. For people who already believed they had a cause this confirms it. You would have to be as thick as pig shit to not even see that much.

Yeah, they will all be sitting around discussing what they were ‘nearly going’ to do in retaliation after a few day time espressos.

sew it into them

twould make you proud to be a blueshirt lads, wouldnt it

imagine that, police enforcing the law, the cheek of them

They’ve also legitimised the Catalan independence cause internationally and publicised and garnered sympathy for it in a manner the Catalans could only have dreamed about.

Over 700 people being injured, firemen protecting voters being attacked by the faceless baton chargers of the Guardia Civil, women young and old being attacked with batons, glass doors being smashed in to deny democracy, it’s really not a very good look at all for the Spanish government.

But… but…but what about the law. They’re breaking the law.

its great craic watching the fucking idiots, fuming at the injustice of it all one their laptops  I hope the Guardia Civil crack plenty more heads tonight. These headbangers have no respect for the law of the land

The Guarda Civil dont have the Wehrmacht to fall back in this time. Colm Toibin had a very good article about this during the week:

A rotten institution. As bad as the RUC.

Rajoy should never have been allowed near power after the lies he spun after the bombings in 2004. The Spanish Government should have just ignored the vote today.

That would have been the smart thing to do. But he has nationalist base and he is trying to look patriotic and tough. Either they’re not very bright or they had no idea how bad it would look internationally.

Well, when the economy is struggling you usually start flying the flag.
