It’s like the thing out of Alien. I’d move out.

The flies don’t appear too scared of it

He waiting for a bigger meal than a fly by the looks of it

That’s a Huntsman, huge and they’d scare the bejaysus out of you, but ultimately harmless.

We get a few Redback spiders, great lads for hiding under outdoor furniture, they can give you a very nasty bite.

And we have a lot of Funnel Web spiders around, these are the ones you really have to look out for, deadly. Had a dead one I had to fish out of the pool last week. I have an awful habit of walking outside in bare feet which I have to stop and you have to check any footwear left outside in case they’ve taken up residence.
They look as deadly as they are

I was bitten by a spider (no idea what type) a few years ago and to spend two days on a drip in hospital.

I had a lad over for a beer at Easter. He near had a heart attack when he saw me clean the leaves out of the skimmer box with my bare hand.

He said the funnel webs can create some sort of air pocket in their mouth when they fall into a pool and can survive in the skimmer box for 24 hours. I went out and bought the filter socks to put over the skimmer the next day.

Jesus Christ don’t be doing that. I did actually surface after diving into the pool one day to be confronted by one floating on the surface approaching me, looking all angry and funnel web like.
This is why I wear gloves all the time in the garden now. Especially after all the rain we’ve had, they’re looking for sheltered, dry places to habit and cook up their dastardly schemes.

That thing is literally shooting bolts of lightning out of its legs. Would you come home out of that madhouse

We were lifting paving stones in Flemington after the Melbourne cup and there was a Funnel Web (according to the Aussies) underneath one of them when I lifted it. @Gman was there too I think

I wish I could pal

The young lad was home for the last few weeks (I might post elsewhere about it) but it’s raining here constantly (couldn’t hack it) so he headed back yesterday. He should be touching down there soon. Keep an eye out…

They lost his bags somewhere in China and the electricity was shut off in his flat while he was away.

Probably overrun with giant centipedes and funnel web lobsters

Could well be. It’s his cousins flat who’s also home at the moment.

No clothes, no shower, he’ll be onto us for money. Some hope!

Saw a couple of these today on my lunchtime stroll; seems to be outside it’s usual area of the west of the country.

Saw one as well.
Looked like a moth out in the sunshine.

A fierce amount of flies this autumn compared to prevous years
