Sure Dublin has its own Bay Of Naples (Killiney Bay), Vesuvius (the Sugar Loaf), mafia (St. Vincentās), Maradona (Dermo) and a whole lot more than what Naples has.
I dont know how he does it, but thereās a smell of piss off that tweet.
I continually make this point. The only capital city Iāve been in that is comparable is Lisbon.
I never considered it before but telling that thereās been more or less no examples thrown up of better ones. Dublin isnt all that bad maybe. Havenāt really been in the city centre in a few years but I always thought it was a great city and probably the best in the world Iāve been in for a just a straight up ānight outā any night of the week. Never felt in any danger in it either.
Careful now. Most lads on TFK donāt really get it and dont fully appreciate the sights, sounds and smells of a really big Championship Day. You are one of the few who gets to the pitch of it.
Only for me educating them and bringing to their attention the little things like Takaka Rain ringing out on the tannoy or Niamh Boyle strutting along the sideline, they probably still wouldnt have noticed.
Its the same in Thurles with Big Rob working the sideline.

Lovely Iām making my maiden voyage to Lisbon in a fortnightās time, canāt wait now

A fair number of posters here have remarked over the years on Dublinās splendid natural setting - and sometimes it has been some of the posters youād least expect.
Dublin has an unrivalled choice of destinations for simple outdoor pleasures, whether it be going for a run up in the Fifteen Acres and lying down at the end of it and gazing across at the hills of the south county, walking around Howth hill, a walk down Dunleary pier or the South Wall, or anywhere along the coast, lazing around in the Green or the Iveagh Gardens or College Park or Merrion Square, outdoor pints by the Grand Canal or outside the Gravediggerās, or a hike up into the hills themselves, looking down at the dramatic vista below. And so much of Dublinās suburban environment is a pleasure to be in or travel through.
I want to cycle up Vico Road right now just thinking about it all.

Itās all about the absorption, the soakage, the smells, the mode of transport.
Thurles is about the train. The convenience. You wouldnāt want to travel there any other way. Clones is about the car, the inconvenience. You wouldnāt want it any other way. Croker is about the bus. And then the taxi. And barging in the door drunk as a skunk at 3am.

June 9th, 2006. Exams finished. The World Cup is starting right now. Take me there.
Itās terrific, pal. Muldoons down the bog ridiculing Dublin, yet spending their days cleaning their grubby houses themselves because thereās fuck all to do. I pay for Anitaās and Sandraās (cleaning) services because I place value on my time and want to enjoy the stunning sights and sounds of Dublin. In the past few days alone, Iāve experienced St Anneās Park, the Velvet Strand, Bull Island and the 51. Iāve ran and walked all over the city, including through Griffith Park where the murder weapon in the Dublin suitcase crime was discarded and past Georgeās Dock (Duga Sheoirse) Luas Stop where some lad was viciously assaulted the other night. You just donāt get that sublime mix of grace and grit elsewhere.
Thereās something very special about that walk down Raglan Road on the way to an Irish Mens Football International.
Or a packed Parnell Park for a midweek Club Game in October.

Itās all about that mixture. Dublin itself is like its six in a row team, each individual part providing something different, something unique, something essential, all coming together in harmony - not perfect harmony, because a perfect team has no heart, and neither does a perfect city, but something formidable, something that can infuriate us and exhilarate us in almost equal measures. Something we always want to be part of and something that will always be part of us.
Or a packed Parnell Park for a midweek Club Game in October.
The dry leaves gently whirring on the Malahide Road, lit up by a hundred cars. October midweek games at Parnell Park are always played in dry conditions. The floodlights peering over the semi-circularly arranged houses. Up the lane. The buskers are there, even though itās a Wednesday night. Bienvenue Ć Chez Connolly. Theyāll talk about Dermo under the October (sometimes November) lights for generations.
Iām welling up

Dublin, Dublin, Dublin

Itās not a capital but Vancouver is spectacular. Rio as well would be in the mix

Thats a beautiful scene. Like being there. If the water wasnāt full of your own raw sewage you could have gone for a dip it would have been perfect
If the Cork crowd carried on with the neediness displayed above you would be slaughtered. The simple fact is most decent people wouldnāt let a dog live in Dublin, itās a shithole and a blight on the rest of the country. If it wasnāt for Croke park Iād happily never set foot in the city again.

They loves their city
I didnāt mind Dublin when I lived there. But I was in leafy South Dublin with no responsibility for the most part. If you like carousing and going to matches and you have the money do to do so itās a great place to live. If you have kids and want to live in a nice house with easy access to a good school and regular childcare itās not the best unless youāre absolutely minted. City centre is a shit hole alright the last few years

A fact
