State not master's Bater being sued - Redacted

That’s the kind of thinking outside the box that keeps you one step ahead

So the cops knew that internal affairs were setting them up?

I’d like to see a joint GAA-State investigation involving the Disputes Resolution Commission and GSOC.

The problem is that every copper who gets a skelp in a GGA match will be claiming the same and will end up costing the taxpayers a fortune. Masters should be told to man up and fuck off.

This is exactly it. It would be a landmark case and would open the floodgates.

Ah no. This one was clearly linked to the performance of his duties.

It has gone further. It was a criminal matter, now it’s a civil matter. What the judge decided in the criminal case won’t stop the civil case, in fact it’s very likely to assist the civil case.

Could be the thin end of a feckin huge wedge though.

Perhaps but that doesn’t mean that Masters is not entitled to Justice either.

It’s not corrupt. He got the living shit kicked out of him because he is a guard and he is entitled to be compensated for that the same as any guard.

No, I dont necessarily disagree, but it’s a very grey area, and could lead to no end of claims against any employer at all. Supposing it’s a manager at dunnes got clocked by a staff member. Would dunnes be liable?

He didn’t compensate Masters. He was fined. If he paid that that went into Court not to Masters.

Well that’s just factually incorrect

No. I doubt it as I don’t believe there is any statutory scheme for compensating Dunnes workers.

That’s just whataboutery.

So are his claims

And what about it?

You gave us plenty of color in your 2010 post above. I got the clear gist of it.

As to your other point, plenty of lads have been compensated for assaults on the field of play.

The court will be the judge of that.

Ferris thought he was a hard man hitting cops in games of gah. It was a different story when the likes of Gerry McCabe and the special branch sorted him out
