We had brunch in Brother Hubbard yesterday, the man himself waited on us.

They have a refreshing approach to childrenā€™s dining, no garbage whatsoever, though he did encourage us to go for something sweet afterwards, Iā€™d highly recommend it, the food was fabulous, the coffee outstanding.
Perhaps a bit slow if I had a criticism

Quinlans on the Main Street do a smashing fish and chipsā€¦.You wouldnā€™t be that far from Kilgarvin so just keep your eyes about you if queuing for grub like that. Apart from that itā€™s a noble town.

Iā€™ll be arriving on All Ireland Final day so if Kerry beat Tyrone and reach the final could be a carnival atmosphere in town. Might head out to Templenoe and see if your old pal Spillane is getting the rounds in

Thereā€™ll be feck all fear of that - leopards and their spots and all that. That was a super oulā€™ smackdown by the Dada all the same. Great days. Iā€™d say the same Pat wouldnā€™t turn a sweet in his mouth for fear of someone asking him for one.

I put down the afternoon in McBrides in Westport. The owner just took it on in July

As good a bar as Iā€™ve been in for years.

Highly recommended

Covid Claire?

Any tips for a good spot to eat along the road from Mitchelstown to Killarney?

thereā€™s a cafe on the killarney side of Ballyvourney thatā€™s outstanding. An cruiscin Lan - itā€™s at the side of a petrol station on your left.

Itā€™s reasonable, plenty food and sound staff.

In a terrible turn of events Iā€™m going to have to divert to Murphys in Brandon.

Anyone driving from Mitchelstown to Killarney via ballyvourney would want to be fairly lost

There is a nice resteraunt in Kildorrery called thatch and thyme.

Mallow is a bit of a wasteland but for OK pub grub the dutch tulip at the roundabout has OK food.

Other than that fuck all really. Nowt in rathmore which is the only other place of note you will pass thru
