Leave Killarney, loads of value in the rest of Kerry.

It’s a gem of a County ( except Killarney )

Anything worth seeing on the Aran Islands @Fagan_ODowd? A search tells me you were out there recently. Or anybody else.

Inis Mór, best place for grub, best pub, is there taxis? Stuff like that.

Trap and pony.

Dun Aengus on Inis mor.

Not a lot on Inis Mean but check out Synge’s cottage, a friend of mines family own it.

Inis Oirr has a light house and ship wreck from father Ted fame

No, the Aran Islands, not the Blaskets.

There’ll be loads of students rocking up soon for Irish college, you might get the shift.

Never been. Hoping to go out in August.

Fun fact. The people of Inis oirr are called Sandies and the people of Inis Mean are called Rockies

All because a lad arrived out there in the late 70s and turned a local barn into a temporary cinema and showed a few scannàin. Amazing.

Rent a bike. Even Inis Mór is small with very little cars, bike is ideal. Just cycle around the ring of it. You can stop at a place where you’ll see seals, Dun Aeonghas, then pull in and walk down to the cliff pool. Worth doing even if you don’t want to swim, it’s a cool landscape walking down to it. That’ll pass most of a day if you take your ease, and have lunch etc in the middle, stop at the beach.
Other than that there’s not much to do, but it’s a nice place to spend a weekend. Chilled out way of life.
Food wise there’s about 4 places to eat on the island. You’ll end up trying them all I’m sure over a weekend. Teach Nan Phaidi is on the way around the ring and is a nice little cafe place to stop. It’s a bit away from most accommodation otherwise.

Joe Watty’s is the main pub grub place. There’ll be trad there in the summer. There’s nothing fancy available. There’s a more pubby pub down the town who’s name escapes me. But you can’t miss any of these places.

They used to say to take out cash before you go over as there’s only one ATM and it runs out of money on a busy weekend, but they surely all take card these days.

Rent a bike and stop wherever you see a crowd basically.

Thanks. Is there taxis?

I’m sure there are. The locals wouldn’t miss a trick to get a few bob out of your pocket

It seems there’s mini buses ferrying groups around so that might be the best solution if we can book one of them. I haven’t managed to get contact details yet though.

There’s always a few lads at the pier that will ferry you around for the day, sometimes they can be very entertaining as well

You might be able to get a yellow reg Range Rover out to the Aran Islands

The right decision. It’s a wonderful part of Ireland.

Same sea, different county.
