If the weather keeps ye in the car the Caherdaniel - Sneem - Ballaghbeama - Ballaghisheen - Waterville loop is as fine a set of scenery as you’ll get anywhere.
Agreed on Derrynane beach it’s possibly the best beach in Ireland to my mind. If you’re down there a week consider a day trip to the blasket islands it’s superb. You’ll have to book well in advance and the sailing is weather dependant. You can swim on the beach on the blankets it’s quite the experience after hearing the history of the place in the preceding hour or two.
Whats the age sanction for kids to the Skelligs? You need to book well in advance and the weather can be hit and miss but it is an incredible venture and something all Irish people should do once.
Them monks were hardy bastards.
EDIT - No under 11’s seems to be the rule of thumb, but open to a bit of wrangling I’d imagine.
I’d like to but I’d be terrified of Juhy junior on it. He’s prone to overconfidence leading to injury on walks like that. A great lad for thinking he can jump 2 metres and land on that pointy rock over there… might leave him a couple of years for that. Ive had him out on the cliff walk in howth a good few times and its scary enough watching him.
It has nothing at all to do with my own fear of heights…
