I find the narrative in the English sporting media on the ROI soccer team is of a plucky limited team that often punches above it’s weight

Yes, we think we have a rivalry with England in the same way that England think they have a rivalry with Germany. Most of them support us in international tournaments

The real diehard engerland fans actually do hate us though. They’re obsessed with Irish republicanism for some strange reason.

That’s the minority that sing 10 German Bombers and No Surrender. Can’t compare them to the general populace

The real diehard England fans hate everyone.

10 German bombers is a grand tune

I’ll be watching the documentary tonight, hope it’s good.

Confirmed it wasn’t the Bloody Sunday documentary anyway. It was a 3 minute video showed in the dressing room before the game. The video included all Ireland’s goals against England in the past. At the end there was 30 seconds of “historical context”.

There was footage of the game in 1995 which straddled both themes

Bizarre video by the sounds of it.

It sounds box-office.

The video sounds so good, I’ve put together this reconstruction:

Who made the Bloody Sunday Doc?

RTÉ commissioned it, but it looks like it was a Clare production company Twopair Films that made it.

Whoever got offended about that video that Kenny showed would be better off out of the Irish set-up.
