Stick hurling: Parental Guidance advised

any change you introduce fellas will find a way around it anyway.
scoring from within your own 65 is a skill in itself and there arenā€™t many who do it to be fair.

fellas scoring frees from 80 yards - thatā€™s a part of it. Youā€™ve to weigh up the risk of fouling versus a guaranteed point

Some lads lose the run of themselves during a game. Iā€™d rather let Bonnar shoot from 50 yards say than foul him and give the free likeā€¦

the widest point would be at the toe? Measured to the heel?

Ah most intercounty players would be capable of scoring from inside their own 65

The biggest problem facing hurling is the young lads coming through are hopeless.

Thereā€™s hardly a hurler of note in the country under 23 and God help the game when Canning, Horgan, Reid and the Tipp lads step away in next 2 years.

they would of course. Most lads would. Taking the shot under pressure wouldnā€™t be the best choice. Not everyone would, itā€™s still rare enough

Most of the shots from there arenā€™t under pressure. Diarmuid Byrnes is generally standing up when heā€™s trying one of his hail mary efforts from inside there

QED, most coaches would disapprove of the selection in most circumstances.

I was below in Dungarvan for a Waterford Crystal match against Waterford in 2017, Kinnerk nearly blew a gasket with Diarmaid

Alan Dempsey got 11 points from play the same night from a roving centre forward role and was never seen in a limerick jersey again

Hego would clear a rood of thistles one handed, in 15 minutes. Phenomenal talent.

The Hall of Famers over the age of 30 now arenā€™t being replaced.

Thereā€™s a real sense now watching Kilkenny without Reid isnā€™t really Kilkenny at all. Same with Galway and Canning, Cork and Horgan.

the game is moving away from individuals, gone are the days when youā€™d just fuck it into your best forward and hope heā€™d carry you over the line.

Theyā€™re all running off the shoulder, creating options, making it easy for the man in possession and working it into a nice scoring position

Like I said above this has to go down to player level. He is responsible. Thereā€™s examples above in lacrosse and ice hockey. The infringement has to be called by the player or manager of the opposing team. You canā€™t govern what is in the ground or thrown into play. Itā€™s down to the player.

Ah the whole thing is fucked now.

Minor/Under 21 Championships dumbed down, Fitzgibbon on its last legs, Round robin nonsense, All Ireland Finals in July coming in. Playing a League that nobody wins :see_no_evil:

Underage Inter county competitions like Tony Forristal and Arrabawn more or less scrapped in favour of micky mouse blitzā€™s and Celtic Challenges . Young lads being told to spend 5 nights a week, gymming, stretching and swimming, but forget about the games boys, donā€™t bother play club league gamesā€¦

and still and all the base skill level is higher than itā€™s ever been. Thereā€™s corner backs playing now that would blind you with skill.

Go back 20 years and corners backs were only there to hurt fellas

He means he wants every county being forced into spanking their money on the county board credit card (I think)

Is it not that with the S&C regimes thereā€™s very few ready for senior IC until at least 21/22? Galway won the last 3 minor titles and Morrissey from 2017 is the only one pushing for the starting 15. But I agree itā€™s worrying that there are no real stars emerging and the focus seems to be biased on size and strength.

Any of them under 23?

Thatā€™s where the problems start.

The Tony Forristal & Arrabawn are/were blitzes and the Celtic Challenge is the best thing the GAA have done in a long time.

And everyone plays club league games bar senior intercounty players.

And again, the All-Ireland final in July is great for club players.

whatā€™s your fascination with young fellas?

I donā€™t think thatā€™s the case in Tipp which is a joke
