Stick hurling: Parental Guidance advised

There is nothing more exciting than a 19/20 year old coming in and ripping it up.

do they postpone league?

No. The league is starting this weekend and I don’t think county u20s are being allowed to play with their clubs. We got a walkover anyway and that was the excuse given

Well that is a bit of a joke. The league starts this weekend in Limerick and all the U-20s, hurling & football, will be available. County minors can’t play anyway because they’re U-17. Shur club managers wouldn’t stand for it.

fucking hell

The Tony Forristal and Arrabawn were noble competitions that were a breeding ground for all the greats. They’ve been taken away.

In Tipp no county players are playing League.

All Ireland in July will be a disaster wait and see. Ultimately clubs were happy enough not having championship games in the holiday months. Lads could do their J1, Concerts, Festivals, Galway Races in peace and knuckle down then in mid August.

there’s the problem there - you want to move the calendar around to enable lads to go away and get pissed.

The calendar is there.

Commit or don’t.

Surely the consensus is free flowing and stickwork. Any adjustments would have to centre on those.

You will be delighted when Mark Rodgers walks all over Shane McNulty in a few weeks time

I think that’s a very old school attitude. June/July/August is wedding/silage/holiday season and that’s not going to change.

Rightly or wrongly Clubs will end up being missing a load of players in the early rounds in July for a range of reasons.

From a games promotion point of view it wont be great with the business end of the Intercounty Championships clashing with a Soccer major tournament every second year and then the second half of July/early August (the GAA’s prime month for exposure) being filled with Group fare from Club Championships where TG4 will end up showing a depleted Kilmallock vs a half strength Na Piarsaigh in a dead rubber group game in front of 500 people in the LIT Gaelic Grounds on a July Sunday afternoon,

Club Leagues should run alongside the Inter County Championship from April until August and then full steam ahead for Club Championship for 12 weeks from mid August until early November. Weather is never an issue in September/October.

Provincial Club then in November/early December with All Ireland Club in the New Year.

There is no such thing as a depleted Kilmallock team

Refs check studs before every rubby match irregardless of level. Wouldnt be too hard gor the ref to get each panel to line up during the warm up, do a quick visual and if anything looks too big they can have a cloth tape measure to check. A quick check on each side line for spares. Takes no more than 5 mins. After a while no one will be pulling fast one’s incase they get caught

i don’t know if it’s still the case but the refs used to check for jewelry, shin guards, studs etc before junior soccer matches. You’d line up on the 18 yard box for the inspection

Didnt disrupt the warm up too much. You either had to sort it out or you wernt allowed play. Could easily be introduced into hurling. A quick check of hurlers and that helmets are correct. At least everyone is on the same page. The refs might have to be early not on time tho

Presumably the enforcement of this rule would apply to goalkeepers as well, that would take some getting used to for them.

Just bring a recommended size Hurley with him and compare
