25 games out of him and Ill be happy.
At least I didnt go this far when Ronaldo left United.

At least Ronaldo gave you service and some loyalty and 80m was a resonable return, not to mention he went overseas and not to rivals.

Think it was aroudn £17m.
The experiment to convert him from an attacking midfielder to a defensive midfielder clearly hasn’t worked. Time to ship him out to whatever Portuguese ot Turkish team Mendes can get to buy him.[/quote]
+1. He has had enough chances at this stage. Talented player but the time has come to move him on. Some rumours doing the rounds about Utd being interested in Witsel. Wouldn’t be too unhappy with that.

Van Persie has spent eight years at Arsenal, is that not service. He has watched virtually all the key members of the team leave, ( Henry, Fabregas, Adebayor, Nasri etc.), with inferior replacements purchased. I imagine he would have preferred to move abroad but no acceptable offers came in. Would you blame the guy for wanting to win some trophies before he retires?
History would suggest the odds are against this, he only started 25 games or more once in eight seasons at Arsenal. If you add in substitute appearances he only participated in 25 games or more in four of his eight seasons.
I won’t be saying anymore on the matter anyway.
I’m sure the first thing Liam Brady said to himself when he heard about the transfer was: That’s mercenary. I think that’s mercenary.
United are a team in decline, it is a sideways move for him and if he waited another year he had his pick of teams and could easily have moved abroad.
He had his pick of teams now and chose Manchester United.
Anyway it’s only the same move Frank Stapleton made and I don’t recall Liam Brady calling him a mercenary.
manchester reds have the 2 worst strikers of the euros playing for them now
At the risk of sounding bitter here - I agree with this. I genuinely don’t think United’s squad is all that much stronger. Certainly Van Persie’s transfer has strengthened United’s and weakened Arsenal’s but I don’t think there is much in it. I wonder what odds you’d get on Arsenal winning the Premier League or Champions League before United.
There was only one bid accepted?
I think that’s mercenary anyway.
8 years on the treatment table while gladly taking pay. A horrible horrible man.
Why is it any more mercenary than any other big transfer? The game by its nature is mercenary.
Huh?
If he wanted to win trophies he would have returned the calls from TFK AFC. Full of himself and wouldn’t even travel over for a trial.
Newcastle have completed the signing of Vurnon Anita from Ajax for around 6.5 million squid. Bandage, when you have a chance could you tell us a bit about him.
Michael Cox maintains he will be a big addition for them
I do like Michael Cox but I highly doubt he’s been to as much Eredivisie as Bandage in recent seasons.
Hence why I was waiting for the forums foremost authority on Eredivisie matters to give us his thoughts
So 20 goals a season is the only benchmark worth considering?
What about his scoring ratio of more than a goal every 2 games throughout his Arsenal career?
Or that he has only played more than 25 league games twice only twice in his Arsenal career?
Van Persie is proven quality. He won’t be playing at international level for United so any reference to his international record with regards to this move is irrelevant.
As others have mentioned, ferguson will probably be happy with him playing 25 - 30 games this season. Will also keep Rooney on his toes and it’s a huge signing for the club.
Lukas Podolski had an abysmal time at Munich. Comparing him to Van Persie is absurd.
You seem to be using the 25 games a season stat (which you got wrong) here as a positive thing? For the record - he only once start more than 25 games in a season for Arsenal (that was last season) and four times participated in more than 25 games.
No one is disputing his quality when he’s fit - he showed that last season. What is being questioned here is his injury record. Of course Ferguson would be happy with 25 games a season but history has proved that he hasn’t managed this.
Alex Song is being sold to Barca for GBP15m. Will leave Arsenal with roughly zero net spend for the transfer window so far.
Not only do I have to deal with the disappointment of Van Persie leaving Arsenal, I now find out that Rocko has been looking to replace me with TFK AFC. The head is gone, I don’t think i’m in the right frame of mind to play tonight.
KIB, you can’t judge Podolski on a poor time at Bayern Munich when he was immature and couldn’t cope with the pressure. He has since had a couple of very good goal scoring seasons at Cologne, where he was playing in a poor team. He isn’t as good as RVP but he is a quality striker and should get a decent haul of goals if he stays fit this season. Also, this season Arsenal should be a lot more creative with Cazorla in the team, Wilshere coming back, Oxlade-Chamberlain getting more game time and Gervinho looking like he will be a lot better than last season.
i won’t pretend it’s not a huge blow to lose Van Persie but Arsenal are still a lot better off than this time last season.
