Apart from the ridiculous point about playing less than 25 games being some sort of extraordinary feat you either don’t understand the word “throughout” or you aren’t familiar with Van Persie’s record. His record only improved to 1 in 2 (or better) in the last couple of seasons. His record before then wasn’t as good. That’s not a criticism of him - just pointing out he’s not as consistent as you said he has been. Injuries obviously played a part then. But you can’t just ignore it.
The first person to compare Podolski to Van Persie was you. I simply pointed out that he doesn’t play in the same position but has a reasonably similar strike rate. Which you seem to think is important. Sorry for upsetting you.
I don’t think Podolski is a striker, he’s a left sided attacker. I think he’ll do well in the EPL. Van Persie is a very good EPL player but we should look at the bigger picture, the EPL is a shit league, devoid of tactics and full of brainless defenders who can’t defend unless they are camped on the edge of their own box.
I know I said I wouldn’t be saying any more on the Van Persie transfer but here I go again anyway. Some tweets this morning that caught my eye:
@OptaJoe: 83 - In the past three seasons Louis Saha has featured in 83 PL games (73%), four more than Robin van Persie in that period. Regular.
@Orbinho: Arsenal PL win % with & without Robin van Persie: Last 5 seasons With 53% Without 60%; Last 4 51% & 60%; Last 3 54% & 57%; Last 2 52% & 55%
Another good signing for Newcastle. Young but a fair bit of experience, tenacious but good technically, very versatile. I like him as a holding midfielder. Covers his full-backs well, gets into good positions to receive the ball, can scamper forward too.
must be a cracking atmosphere and air of anticipation around the Stadium of Light with their two quality summer signings - Cuellar and Saha…O’neill really building a squad for the future… :strokechin:
That really came out of no where! He has an alright scoring record for a winger, 20 in 68 or something like that. Psv and Ajax were interested but B-Rod has done the business.
