Summer Transfer Window 2009

Not sure Reina would approve, but yeah Robben would be a decent signing for most Premiership clubs

It`s the main reason he has gone back to a league where you can get away with being an ageing centreback with no pace required.

he was sold from Inter Milan years ago & was a lot worse for them than he ever was for madrid & then went on to have 2 great seasons for Juve & was the outstanding player of the last world cup - he may do well for juve again although im disappointed he didnt go back to Napoli

Why? Naples is a kip.

im sure he could commute from sorrento

he’d want to commute alright

New Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed the club have signed Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow.

Speaking at his first press conference, the Italian said: ‘Zhirkov, (Daniel) Sturridge - these are Chelsea players.’

Zhirkov was outstanding as an attacking left back for Russia in the Euros but against Villa for CKSA I didnt think he was that great, he was on the left wing for that. Malouda was finally coming good for them towards the end of last season and Cole is solid at left back. Putting my neck on the line I reckon this will be a flop but sure he will be an option anyway.

Have seen nothing from Sturridge to suggest he warrants the hype that surrounds him. He fits into the Britain criteria for Chelsea’s champions league squad tho…

From The Guardian:

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has rubbished rumours that his club’s Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh is off to Sunderland. “What the fuck would he do at Sunderland?” he asked, not unreasonably. “You have heard him say he will only sign for a big English club. I don’t want to insult Sunderland, but I don’t even know where they finished last season.”

Manchester City have accepted an offer from Sunderland for Richard Dunne.

Would be a great singing for Sunderland. Any figures being quoted?

Opening the door for John Terry to step into the fray no doubt

I’ve seen 2m mentioned. Pretty small as far as EPL transfer deals are concerned but I believe he’s just entered the final year of his contract.

That is for nothing compared to some of the fees players are going for. Dunne has consistently been one of Citys top performers over the past 3/4 years.

What age is Dunne?

30, I read on another forum.

apart from the season just finished where he was muck

Ya, he didn’t have the best of seasons just gone, but he still put in some good performances especially on the international stage. When you look at the money spent by Sunderland/Roy Keane on the likes of Greg Halford etc then this is a nice bit of business.

It would be an unreal bit of business, 2m for dunne is a snip, couldnt see him going that cheap though.
