Summer Transfer Window 2013

I don’t know if I’m being a little harsh on Higuain but in the big games I’ve seen with Madrid over the past couple of seasons but he’s failed to influence them. I do imagine that it must be very tough for a striker to play with Ronaldo, everything goes through him so much and in a probably restricts Higuain from his natural game.

Juventus for me, need creativity in the final third. They don’t play with wingers and their attackers lack that spark which Higuain doesn’t have either as he’s a goalscorer. They should do everything in their power to get Diamanti, he’s got that maverick quality and creativity Juventus are lacking in the final third. He’s very underrated and has got that imagination and quick thinking very few players in the game possess.

I see Thomas Vermaelen has been told he can leave Arsenal for the knock down fee of £5 million. I believe both Rintintin and myself called this correctly back a few seasons ago when we said he was shit and vastly overrated whole Il Bomber thought he was a fine defender

Sergi Canos has joined Liverpool from the Barcelona academy- Barcelona are seething as he is very highly thought of.

It has being reported that Moutinho and James Rodriguez are undergoing medicals at Monaco ahead of a €55m transfer.

Chelsea are linked with Burak Yilmaz for £20m. Was surprised he stayed in Turkey last summer - he was linked with Lazio for a long time but thought there’d be more interest based on his past couple of seasons. He has continued that on with Galatasaray (and crucially performed well in the CL) so now Galatasaray look like taking a big profit on him in 1 season.

Sporting Lisbon were due to get 25% of the fee Porto received for Moutinho.

So Porto and Monaco have agreed that the €60m transfer fee for him and Rodriguez is broken down as €59m for the Colombian and €1m for Moutinho.

Sneaky bastards.

Did something similar happen with Petit and Overmars to Barca?

They obviously saw this coming a while back because they bought out most of the third party ownership of both players in the last few months. That was thought to be with a view to allowing them to move to England but I’d guess they spotted this opportunity to package them together in one deal, and obviously couldn’t do that if they weren’t the outright owners.

Will the accountancy rules regarding FRS5 Substance over form apply?

I knew a lad who audited Leeds United Accounts and he said football accounts are murky to say the least.

Bad summer so far for the Irish lads.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos is joining Dortmund from Werder Bremen. He looked like he’d be going to Leverkusen but Dortmund showed late interest. He’ll replace Santana (signed for Schalke) as the third centre back.

If Santana has gone to Schalke does this strengthen the rumour that Papadopoulos is about to leave… Liverpool are heavily linked and talks are said to be at advanced stages. Also, how good is he?

I went on record recently saying what a good defender he is.

Coentrao has been told he can leave Madrid, I think he has been very good at Madrid so I find it a bit strange. They definitely overpaid for him but he’s very efficient in both his attacking and defensive duties. Juve should go for him if they can afford him and after they get their attack sorted.

Was he just too young at Milan or did he get injuries or why didn’t he work out there?

Plenty versitile too and has a bit of devilment about him

Coentrao always impressed me any time I saw him play. Baffling decision.

He wasn’t given a run, Milan had Nesta and Silva as their starters and then they had established reliable back-up in the likes of Yepes and Bonera. He didn’t impress all that much in the chances he was given but as a young defender you need some patience and continuity to prove yourself. He was very good at Genoa, they actually had one of the best defences in Italy at that time with Bocchetti and Criscito there (and also owned Bonucci and Ranocchia). Very sad to see the other lads now wasting their careers in Russia.

Yeah he is a flaking player.

Coentrao has been appalling at Madrid…he has struggled to even hold down a place until recent months…he’s a reckless defender who’s always giving frees away…the fee they payed for him was ridiculous…i think him and mourinho have the same agent…that explains a lot…

That has to be bullshit. He’s definitely worth more than 5 million. He’s only 27 as well.
