If he departs and another centre back isn’t signed, they lack quality and depth in this position. Toure and Agger with Wisdom and possibly Martin Kelly as back up. Is that it or have I forgotten somebody?

It was the Copa America and he had an excellent tournament. He is a very good defender, the problem is he has played under a dinosaur and a spoofer. We’ll bring him to Italy and make a star out of him.

Tony Barrett, who covers the Merseyside teams for The Times, has tweeted that Liverpool have rejected an offer from Barcelona for Agger. The player’s agent has released a statement stating they’re aware of the offer but it would be up to the clubs to agree a deal. It seems he’s not going to agitate for a move like Suarez but he’d fancy the chance to join Barca. He has 3 years left on his contract.
