Summer Transfer Window 2013

Don’t mind that- now they can swap the man they paid 35m for + cash for him.

This is a typical Liverfool FC move. I fully expect them to sign Michu for 20 odd million and for him to scrape 1 goal and a couple assists for them next season.
Not really, Deportivo just peaked, they lost Roy Makaay to Munich alright but the likes of Valeron and Tristan’s form dropped off massively.

Valencia Lost Kily Gonzalez and Hector Cuper to Inter and Medieta to Lazio but Rafa won a couple of leagues and Uefa cup with some of the key players like Albelda, Baraja et al
Roberto Ayala and Pablo Aimar were the heartbeat of that team…

Always thought it was Albelda and Baraja as well. Ayala would kill you as soon as look at you, but it was the two midfielders who always struck you as the main men.

Ferandinho to Man City being heavily reported in the media today. £23 million or so

I saw that, any insight into him puke?

Sky Italia are carrying this. To me it seems like they are paying well over the odds as usual and while he will probably be an improvement on other options (not very hard), he is unlikely to be a top class midfielder. The transfer strategy of Premiership clubs is idiotic.

Sky Italia are reporting Inter reps were at Barcelona tonight to discuss Alexis to Inter and Handanovic to Barca. Why they’d discuss them on the same night that Barca were playing a CL semi final wasn’t revealed.

Handonovic is an excellent keeper but haven’t Barca already agreed a deal for Marc Stegen of Monchengladback?

That was never confirmed at the time.

Zlatan has said that he will leave PSG this summer according to Italian paper Tuttosport. juventus looks the like destination

Caridff are linked with a 7 million pound move for Kenwyne Jones. Crazy money for a glorified battering ram

Bit of a joke at this stage… how old is he now?

Milan are giving a medical to 18 year old Columbian centre back Jherson Vergara today. Rumoured to be a €2m transfer fee. Lazio have also signed a Columbian up for next season with 20 year Brayan Perea arriving for a fee of €2.5m.
Red Star were fairly torn apart. Jugovic went to Sampdoria, Prosineski to Real Madrid, Mihilovic to Roma, Savecevic to AC. There was probably more

The Porto side that won in 2004 was fairly broken up within a season as well. Carvalho and Ferreira to Chelsea, Deco to Barca, Maniche, Derlei and Costinha went to Russia
This link which I’d never seen before is contained in the column - 50,000 Ajax fans singing along to classical music at half-time when they thrashed Bayern Munich in 1995. Lovely stuff.

Papadopolous of Schalke linked with a 22m Euro move to Man United in the summer. He’s a smashing young defender, would be a shame to see him leave. Schalke have a promising young team. They have the best youth setup in Germany, though he was bought in obviously.

Gundogan (part) , Ozil, Howedes, Draxler, Neuer have all come through their academy in recent seasons. They’re dominant at underage level currently and this will be reflected in my Euro Under 21 preview.

Puyol to Milan?

Milan seem to building a very young team so it wouldn’t really fit in with the direction they’re going. Yepes will be leaving at the end of the season so maybe they would like to replace one experienced head at the back with another. Never rated Puyol that highly to be honest. Has he not got another year on his contract and would he not like to finish his career at Barca?

Papadopolous is very good indeed. I’m a big fan of Sokratis, formerly of Genoa and Milan but now plays for Bremen. He signed for Milan three years ago after a couple of good seasons with Genoa but was never given an opportunity there (Milan had the likes of Nesta and Silva then) and was subsequently loaned and then sold to Bremen.

Roma have been linked with Toby Alderweireld today, I believe he is also on Liverpool’s radar but there are whispers in Italy that a move to Roma is close to being done, Bandage, what are you sources saying in Holland?
