Summer Transfer Window 2019

Shane Duffy to become the first Ā£60m Irish man?

Charlie Haughey got there decades ago

Ajax are selling off their players quite cheaply in the current market

Ajax are selling genuine fine art in a car boot sale

But Premier League clubs are buying prints at Harrodā€™s prices

I found it strange how Marc Overmars was in the press yesterday encouraging Arsenal to buy Ziyech, with him being a technical director at Ajax

Itā€™s not strange at all

Overmars obviously figures Ziyech is leaving come what may

Heā€™d rather another of his former clubs get him than Bayern

Also Arsenal would be likely to pay more money to Ajax or at least bump up the price if he goes elsewhere by creating competition for his signing

I doubt that.

Theyā€™d offer at least Ā£1 more

Ajax fans seem a very tolerant bunch. All their best players and managers seem to leave them at the earliest possible opportunity and they welcome them all back with open arms later in their careers as non playing staff.

Frank De Boer sued Ajax to get released from his contract so he could join Barcelona. Then he manages them a few years later. Ronald De Boer works for Ajax now too after being involved in the same legal dispute.

Overmars was Director of Football at Go Ahead Eagles when he started coaching Ajax on a part time basis too.

With Trippier heading to Atletico, surely Spurs will try to sign Matt Doc?

Even with the De Ligt thing, heā€™s your 19 year old captain who grew up at the club yet there never seemed to be any suggestion from very early on that they particularly wanted him to stay

Surely they could have even taken the money for De Ligt and De Jong, and then bump the likes of Ziyechā€™s wages up a bit with the promise of letting him leave next season if a decent offer comes in and retain some core for a good team while adding players with potential to it

I wonder have they better coming behind these guys . There is a realization at Ajax that are always going to have to sell . Seems to be no real urge to hold . They feel they can always produce players .

They obviously couldnā€™t though given it was their first really good quality team in 20 years probably

Talk now is that itā€™ll be Phil Jones and cash for Slabhead

It would be the coup of the decade if Utd were to offload Jones

Not if the cash amounts to 70-80m

Cost was Ā£80m, now Ā£85m and Phil Jones :joy:

You are I arenā€™t aware of what they have coming through but there is no great effort to keep these lads although the reality is that itā€™s very hard to combat market forces .

ā‚¬30m is some bargain in this market

Itā€™s the model I guess. The more lads get signed up by big clubs the easier it is to attract players and obviously it pays a lot of bills as well
