Summer Transfer Window 2021

Souness has an interesting take on that time. Beardsley and Houghton wanted out but he made a mistake selling Staunton.

He also talks about how he had responsibility for resolving players contracts because ‘he had done it at Rangers’. A lot of upset apparently among existing players when Saunders arrived in on big bucks.

In all, he passed the book for a lot of what happened during that time.

go back to the 60’s. Paisley got Ron Yeats and Ian St John in for big money at the time and it all started from there

When were FFP rules introduced?

Before Liverpool’s new owners wiped out hundreds of millions of debt.

The source of Man City’s funds is a bigger issue than the amount they are spending

The City financial dopers and their oil money comparing themselves to Liverpool in the second division in the 60s

success has always been bought since Jimmy Hill broke soccer

Be good work for Paisley to be spending the cash in the 60’s considering Shankley was the gaffer.

You don’t have the capability to differentiate between what FSG are doing and Chelsea/City owners.

Either could do a job.

running the club in debt? Having paid off a huge debt when they bought the club?

I do. You don’t.

The KOKs cited money as the reason they didn’t win a league title for decades, they then had Wall Street billionaires arrive, wipe out hundreds of millions of debt with their own money, invest further hundreds of millions in the club and now the KOKs want to pretend its ok.

You just regurgitate what you’re fed, you’ve shown over and over again that you have an inability to challenge or question narratives.

but but but Coutinho

Doesn’t seem to have been much financial doping going on back then judging by the competitiveness of the league in this 1970’s article.

Hundred of millions singular.

The only first team player they’ve sold in about 6 or 7 years. They’ve broken at least two world transfer records in that time, their wage bill is multiples times higher than it was before FSG took over, they invested big amounts of their own capital renovating a stadium, have record commissions paid to agents.

Yet they want to play the poormouth. They are where they are because their billionaire owners invested huge amounts in the team.

Raheem Sterling too.

Offset by some shady dealings with Bournemouth/Sheff Utd etc.

Sterling left under Rodgers.
