Drab 0-0 draw at home to Bray tonight in the league opener. Both sides finished with 10 men, captain Shane Duggan sent off for two yellows on his debut.
Ref was awful, pitch was awful, game was awful. Fairly terrible display.
Lost a lot of experience from last season - Gamble, O’Leary, Bradley, Axel - and this has not really been replaced, the squad is very thin. A few injuries or suspensions and could be in relegation trouble.
Dundalk and Pats away in the next two league games.
Yeah reckon we’ll struggle this year. Duggan was a good signing but that was about it.
Poor enough crowd there DK I assume?
Well over 5,000 in Cork I see tonight. Unless they maintain a title challenge, watch that drop steadily as the season progresses. Irish sports fans just can’t do week in week out support like other countries.

Only 1,300 there tonight. Very disappointing. Bray brought no-one - literally. Pat O’Sullivan has done a lot to promote the club and contribute to the local community so it is frustrating when the crowds are low. In fairness for the bigger games - Rovers, Bohs, Cork - the attendance should be higher, especially it it’s a Friday or Saturday night.
Squad is weak overall. We had nothing to bring off the bench tonight and we were not missing many players either. Will be competitive against most teams but if we pick up a few injuries we’ll be decimated. Needed to get more bodies in to replace those who left but for whatever reason it has not happened.
Good stuff. If Limerick can finish top 3 this year, and look like mounting a serious challenge next year then I might consider going along to one of the games.
