When is the draw being made/fixed
Limerick vs Cork on the 22nd is on RTE2
First FAI Cup semi final since '94.
Two games from Europe. Skonto Riga away next June is the dream.
Oh what a night. Average enough game. We controlled the first half without creating much like the last time we were up there. Second half turned it up a bit. Ended up scoring through TOSI who ran in after a shot and tapped it home. We made it 2 shortly after a nice little run and finish from Duggy. Galway pulled one back after Clarke saved a shot but they scored the rebound. But it was actually one of the few times I wasnāt worried we werenāt going to win.
Shane Tracy finally put in left back and had a fine game. Dave o Connor was solid enough. Bastian continued his form with another good performance. Stephen Kenny needs to be dropped. Again tonight not good enough. Got the usual performance from Lee J and Dozie was poor enough again and TOSI causing havoc up top.
Overall a good performance from everyone. Got a bit nervy at the end because he went 5 at the back but held out for the win. TBH Iād take anything in the draw but Dundalk away. A home semi would be lovely and might get a bit of buzz around the city.
But back to important matters now. MASSIVE game in bray next week
Monday at 7pm on Soccer Republic apparently.
I thought we were decent, but Galway were poor. Bit too reliant on the long ball, and Tosi didnāt have the legs in the last 15 minutes to hold it up so it gave Galway a lot of possession.
Tracy was decent at full-back, didnāt get a whole lot of protection from Ogbene. His set-piece delivery is superb though. And Ogbene mightnāt have been at his best, but heās always a threatā¦ Horgan was absolutely terrified of him.
Lynch very lively, had a decent shot saved and was always popping up in dangeous positions. Heryās composure and positioning is top class, he makes a ridiculous amount of interceptions. Duggy started quietly but came into it, decent finish for the goal off his right foot. Kenny wasnāt great but it was his shot that fell for Tosi & and he was unlucky not to get a goal of his own after weaving past a couple of players. Not sure was Clarke on the bench last night, bit surprised not to see him come on.
The defence is still a bit of worry. Iām still not convinced by Cotter at right-back, heās good going forward and running at defenders but his positional sense still isnāt great. I like Whitehead & think heās been very good this season but dived in a few times last night and got caught badly. OāConnorā¦ thought he was a bombscare in the last 10 minutes, seemed very panicky.
Still, a good win. A decent performance and one to build on. Would love a home draw.
Not worth a sank unless we stay upā¦ Hopefully it builds a bit of confidence but with that defence we are never out of dangerā¦ Will Tracey keep his place?
Youād hope so; hard to know with McDonald. Tracy isnāt the greatest player in the world or anything but at least heās a left-back playing left-back. And he can fair whip a corner too.
Away to Cork in the cup semi final!
Pity it wasnāt a home draw but if we get our act together we could catch a hungover Cork.
At least it wasnāt Dundalk
Yep, obviously wanted a home draw but if we were to be drawn away to one of them Cork would have been it.
Weāll give @ChocolateMice dogs abuse as heās sat in the home end with his new found pals.
We play Cork at home in the league the week before too.
2 Friday nights in a row the nation get to see the mighty Super Blues on national TV?
Fuck itā¦ would have loved a home draw. And Iād have loved to bate Cork in the final.
Still, no one gave us a chance when we won 3-2 down there a few years back, late Paudie OāConnor winner. Iād settle for something similar.
Cup semi final confirmed for Friday, September 29th at 7.15pm. Live on RTE. Great stuff.
The league game on the 22nd is live on tv also.

Nothing to lose. If the boys bust their bollox like they did in Galway we are in with a right chance. Canāt wait for this. HON THE SUPERBLUES!!!
