Super Blues RIP (For at least 2020 anyway)

I can imagine camels being grazed on Garryowen green before the lads ride them up the road for a match

The case between Limerick FC and the FAI was formally settled today in court.

As far as I know Pat and his gang of International investors have 10 days from today to get an application together.

Unless the overhanging debts of approx 490k are taken care of I can’t see Limerick getting a licensee but you’ll never know what Pat has got up his sleeve. He’ll know the application process like the back of his hand at this stage and if they can meet the minimum requirements then the FAI will have to give in.

Outside of court on Monday Limerick FC Chairman Mr Pat O’Sullivan said:

I am pleased to have won our case in the High Court, allowing us now to apply for our First Division Licence. The last few weeks and months have been extremely difficult for me and I am glad to be back in a position to concentrate on Limerick FC away from the Courts.”

After thanking his legal team he added that he had “many concerns regarding how our club has been treated since mid-2018. I do feel there has been a coordinated effort to destabilise our club, for reasons unknown to me. I am taking advice as to what options are available to the club.”

Finally, with regards to the Limerick FC academy, a new group has been created calling themselves Limerick United.

He said that Limerick FC made an offer of cooperation to them and notwithstanding same they still have not heard from them.

“I sincerely hope for a positive response to our offer of cooperation. There is a significant investment available around a senior soccer team in Limerick with an underage structure.”

“To me there is no sense in any other long-term sustainable football project in Limerick other than the two parties combining their resources for the benefit of players’ development especially, our sport and our communities.”

“If necessary, I am willing to take on an honorary role. It is difficult to see why Limerick United will not join with Limerick FC for the future of Limerick soccer. As previously discussed I am willing to allow the Limerick United coaching staff to remain in situ subject to FAI requirements,” Mr O’Sullivan concluded.

We could have two Limerick teams similar to the saga in 1983

This is extremely messy, don’t know the ins/ outs of what went on fully, but I do know someone needs to give or make ground to get senior football up n running ASAP longer there’s to and froing soccer suffers- genuine Limerick soccer supporters suffer, and that’s bad for all LOI folk, nothing like bringing the smallies to a raw LOI match, full of emotion, they’ll never forget the experience with Dad,grandad, uncle, mam etc

Be some craic if they’ve to try and pull a team together in a few weeks :grinning:

Imagine LOI lads getting that 🤷

It’s been reported today that the FAI will release a new fixture list tomorrow for the First Division. As Limerick are now allowed to apply for a license the FAI are now forced to make a provisional. fixture list which will include Limerick FC. Note all fixtures are subject to teams being granted a license.

These fixtures will include 11 teams so Limerick FC and Shamrock Rovers B are included.

20 game season though

The fixture list that was released prior to Pat winning the high court ruling had 10 teams and was a 27 game season.

Will the clubs be happy or sad about a twenty game season I wonder. Less weeks to pay the players but less games to make the money back too

It’ll be tough to get sponsors with only 10 home games a season.

All TBC for Limericks games :joy:
