Hopefully you’ll drown … for real.
I’ve been invited for a swim in dromineer this week with a triathlon friend who knows what he’s doing. I’ve not wetstuit and he’s advising against me just hopping in in the aul reliable speedos
You’d want your head examined to swim in lough derg. Like a big slurry tank.
went for a swim myself earlier today with my youngest any hint of a hangover went once I got into the pool
Train in it regularly. Finest
Had a hangover this morning so braved the lions mane jellyfish and brought Madame with me to seapoint for a dip. Fucking freezing at first but lovely once the body adapted
Don’t bother. Over long distance it’s a waste of energy. I’ll write more later.
You could prepare for that in sheelin.
Wednesday evening?
Basically over anything bar a sprint, your kick is completely inefficient, and is there only to balance your stroke. You get minimum return for maximum effort. As long as you’re horizontal in the water, don’t worry about it bar keeping your legs and body as straight as possible (ie not wriggling all over the place during your stroke)
Keep your arms as long as possible, keep your arm entry as smooth as possible, and just rotate your hips and body.
If you do want to work on the legs, then kick sets with a float are the only way. I don’t bother much with these, and cheat my way through them if they are on the set.
If you want to smooth out your arms, paddles are good.
If you’re swimming that far, you’re not doing much wrong though, and just keeping smooth and steady is the only advice I’d give.
My traps were in the bits yesterday - still a little stiff today - it must have been the high elbows
High elbows are good, so I’ve been told
Heading tomorrow. I’ll be the fella in the newly purchased Aldi wetsuit splashing around the place
I see the cunts who have ruined cycling as a pastime for the rest of us are now about to do the same with swimming.
Signing in
And the craft beer and gin crowd ruined drinking
And eating is fucked as well, there’s no happy medium anywhere on TFK, it’s a hames of a place.
Spending the rest of the summer trying to overtake these cunts when I’m out in my speedboat.
Just had my first ever swim at the forty foot. A lovely place to swim indeed.
