There’s a great tradition of aul lads in saunas in Ireland stretching back to the 1980s and it’s refreshing to see it come back.

I was in at Blackrock in salthill yesterday. Fair cold. I was back out after about three minutes.
A swim in the maherees on Saturday and inch beach Sunday. Water felt unseasonably warm, you’d expect much colder for April.

Why?
I’d say the wastewater treatment systems have been overwhelmed by the rain in the last couple of days and the water quality has gone to shit.

Most of Salthill the same the past few days on and off.
Ye haven’t enough water up there and then when it rains ye have too much.
Can you swim anywhere in the Glen of Aherlow?
Very rough sea out at the Guillemene this morning. Quite difficult to get out of the water. Probably shouldn’t have gone in.
