There are reports of casualties in the eastern Belgium city of Verviers after a police counter-terrorism raid on Thursday evening, according to Belgian Public TV.
Belgian public television channel RTBF said on its website that the area of the city near the station had been blocked off by police vehicles, after an police operation against a presumed terrorist group . It reported that two people could be seen on the floor.
Explosions and detonations reverberated in Verviers, towards the train station, a witness told RTBF.
Reuters said the Belga news agency was quoting federal prosecutors saying there had been a police operation near the centre of the town but did not confirm there had been casualties. Belga said there were several casualties and said police activity was continuing.

Who did the IT take cases against?
the phoenix broke a story about a COI rector that worked in the IT who was in the RA .They were brought up for criminal libel,If the phoenix lost a journalist would have been jailed.They were then brought up in front of the NUJ ethics committee too, Paddy Smyth spoke for the IT. In another case Paddy Smyth the IT foreign correspondent took a high court writ against them when they exposed his membership of some militant labour group.
