TFK Bogball Team 2000 - 2019 Full Back Line

I’m voting Lacey for centre back.

That time Mike McCarthy soloed the ball off his head as he strode up the field was class though. He’s worth inclusion for that alone.

I hardly think Leinster is a bastion of top footballers recently mate.

Scandalous.

I didn’t vote for him but Marc O’Se was the fairly unanimous choice for Footballer of the Year in 2007, its very rare a corner back would ever be in the running for that. The scandal in this line is Darren Fay being overlooked.

He got footballer for the year because of surname when they beat a crap Cork or Mayo team in the final that year.

Paul Galvin and MDMA are FOTY winners for fucks sake.

What has Fay done since 2000?

Got roasted by Padraig Joyce in 2001. Barely featured after that.

Fay was a ginnet.

A lad who was good under a high ball but a complete donkey otherwise.

He was fullback on a terribly average Meath team that knocked Tyrone out of the championship in 2007. Tyrone tried to go man-to-man that day and Ricey got such a roasting from Stephen Bray in the first half he had to be moved off him at halftime, only for a way past his best Geraghty to roast him in the 2nd half and score the winning goal. Meath got hammered by Cork next day out.

Well done to him.

Doesn’t changed the fact that he was a ginnet and all he was good for was fetching a high ball.

That Meath team of the 90s and early 00s was ridiculously overrated and got away with absolute murder.

They had some excellent players, Geraghty and Ollie Murphy in particular. I always found a Trevor Giles to be overrated personally.

Geraghty was a great player.

Ollie Murphy - meh.

Giles was very overrated - a shaper like Galvin who played on the psyche of people.

They were a bunch of hatchet men who got away with murder. Tommy Dowd was an absolute mullocker.

Only player to win Footballer of the year twice according to off the ball the other day. Was surprised to hear that

Since it changed from Texaco I think. Jack O’Shea won it 4 times

So he was certainly rated.

I didn’t think he was up to that but again it was only a personal judgment. I never liked Meath although I recognise the pure class of the likes of Geraghy.

He was still there in 2007, I think Joyce was the only forward he ever marked in championship that scored more than 2 points off him. Fairly sure he has a championship goal from fullback but has never conceded one to a direct opponent. As a fullback there has never been better.

Their late 90s team wasn’t as good as the late 80s one, definitely hadn’t the fear factor anyway but they had a few real top top class operators in geraghty Giles and fay. Along with an aging o connell and a few other very good players like Mark o Reilly corner back and mcdermott in midfield. They also produced three forwards who were absolutely brilliant but only for very short spells brendan Reilly, ollie murphy and to a lesser extent Barry callaghan. All 3 appeared from nowhere as dangerous forwards and disappeared as quick.
A good meath is a huge loss to football the cocky hateful cunts.

Lacey is a Laois man, there’s a fierce anti Laois bias on here

Stephen Lucey was deserving of a nomination
