I’ve gone with Canty Moynihan and Ryan Mcmanamin
Fay was brilliant. Rep probably suffered a bit alright after Joyce gave him a roasting in an All Ireland final. He soldiered on a good few years after that though but never won another All Star as Meath went into decline.
apologies, of course he was , a weeks after he finished the leaving cert. midfield I think
- Higgins
- Moynihan
- Marc O’Se
You should all be afuckingshamed of yourselves.
I will be speaking with @Rocko about banning any brain donor who voted for Marc O’Se.
I want this thread locked in disgust.
No Karl Lacey in the six!
Fucking hell.
Mike McCarthy getting more than Karl Lacey just takes the biscuit.
Inbred Munster wankers.
Lacey is probably the best all round defender I have seen in the past 20 years.
But because he’s not a Kerryman from Ballygobackwards the simpltons here wouldn’t vote for him.
I’m fucking seething so I am.
Marc O’Se was decent but he was chronically over-rated. The likes of old Tom O’Sullivan didn’t have anything like his profile or surname but was a much better corner back IMO.
Lacey is probably the best all round defender I have seen in the past 20 years.
Agree. Technique wise in terms of tackling he was the best I have ever seen.
Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy:Lacey is probably the best all round defender I have seen in the past 20 years.
Agree. Technique wise in terms of tackling he was the best I have ever seen.
His pace, ability to read the game, composure.
He was unreal.
Look Keith Higgins was a great defender but Karl Lacey was an elite level version of Higgins. Anything Higgins had, Lacey had an extra 10% in.
Fucking Marc O’Se.
You dimwits.
They’re showing all the classic GAA matches from recent years.
Loads of big games with Kerry in, loads of big games with Marc O’Se getting rinsed.
Hauled off in 2002 against Armagh
Allowing Brian Dooher the run of the pitch in 2005 against Tyrone.
Rinsed by Michael Meehan in 2008.
And there’s countless more there too.
Hang your heads in shame.
Two Kerry lads in the full back line.
Ye are some bunch of comedians.
Fay was outstanding in mid to late 90s but dropped off badly after that… Moynihan was better out the field and don’t think was a great fullback. I’d have mcmenamin and lacey in the corners as both were exceptional one on one markers and I cant leave out Marc o se so he’ll go full back…
Mcmenamin - Marc o se - lacey
I was about to seeth at lacey only getting 8% of votes but then realised I forgot to cast my vote… Mcmenamin has to be in there too…
Mike McCarthy garnered more votes than Lacey.
Mike McCarthy.
I dont want to plant ideas in your head but we’re 7 positions in and still no northerners… Bias?
Southerners are institutionally brainwashed into fairytales of Kerry football.
That defence should be consisting of players from Dublin and Ulster and we’re going to have 3 Kerrymen in there.
I half expected it but fucking hell.
Would be interesting to run something like this by province - pick the best 15 per province over the 20 years and then have 4 on the shortlist for each position. I think there is almost too many options and a dilution in vote due to it. I know i am only skimming through the names to see who resonates and voting accordingly rather than looking at it in depth.
Think that is why lads like Marc and Thomas O’Se are polling well.

Possible back door as well?
Thinly veiled ‘even in the province we don’t have a name to put forward’
