Not sure has this one been mentioned as I haven’t read back the thread but apparently Greece can’t reintroduce the drachma as to do so they would need currency reserves, of which they have none.

Yeah, he wants a mandate to default it seems. And he’ll probably get it. Domestically the alternative is he’ll get his right-leaning opponents to support the proposition and then he has their support for the whole programme.
Surely they will need to implement capital controls on Monday?
He is boxing very clever if he does call a referendum, it would be interesting to see the results. If it was us and in a parallel universe the Anti Austerity Alliance etc got into power in 2011 they may well have chanced the same trick.
